Mortise lock apparatus and electronic operating system
The disclosure describes a locking system for a door with a mortise pocket. The locking system has a mortise case within the mortise pocket. The mortise case defines an alignment hole. The locking system also has a gear box with a worm gear that defines a notched passage that receives a lock knob shaft. A worm within the gear box is coupled to a motor that rotates the worm. The worm engages the worm gear such that the worm gear rotates when the worm rotates. A control board in the gear box is adapted to receive electronic signals and transmit them to the motor to cause the motor to rotate the worm. The gear box also has a worm gear hub that defines a keyed passage and a hub tab. The worm gear hub fits within the notched passage and the keyed passage receives the lock knob shaft. The worm gear also has two notches that the hub tab contacts individually when the gear hub rotates within the notched passage.
Security window applied to single window
A security window applied to a single window is applied to a previously installed single window so as to block an open space of the window and prevent entry by strangers and a person inside from having a falling accident. The security window can be separated from within a room as necessary, and thus movement of an object or emergency escape is facilitated. Meanwhile, the security window cannot be separated from outside the room, and thus intrusion by persons with malicious intent can be prevented from the onset.
Energy source access in a lock
A surface-mounted keylessly operated lock (10) comprises a chassis (11) mountable on one of two parts, especially a door and a door surround, to be locked and unlocked relative to one another and carrying locking means (17 to 23) transferrable between a locking state and an unlocking state respectively for the locking and unlocking, the locking means being electrically operable to cause or allow transfer from the locking state to the unlocking state. In addition, the lock includes a control module (16) mounted on the chassis (11) and carrying control means (30) for controlling supply of electrical operating power to the locking means. The chassis has a receptacle (25) for reception of an electrical energy source, especially batteries, for providing the operating power and the module (16) inclusive of the control means (20) is movable relative to the chassis (11) to permit access to the receptacle (25) to enable battery exchange without demounting of the installed lock.
