Padlock with key-retaining cover
A padlock configured to be locked and unlocked by a key includes a key-retaining cover. The padlock includes a lock body having an internal cavity with a locking mechanism received therein. The locking mechanism is a linear lock configured to receive the key through a keyhole to lock and unlock the padlock. A direction of insertion of the key into the locking mechanism is parallel with a direction of displacement of a plurality of tumblers in the locking mechanism thereby creating an outward ejection force on a fully-inserted key. The cover is disposed on the locking mechanism proximate the keyhole. The cover is configured to retain the key in position relative to the locking mechanism against the outward ejection force after the key is received in therein.

KEY, LOCK, AND LATCH ASSEMBLY
A latch mechanism includes a hook-handle assembly coupled to a first panel and a clevis coupled to a second panel. The hook-handle assembly engages the clevis to secure the first panel relative to the second panel.

LOCK, METHODS OF USING AND MAKING, PRODUCTS, AND NECESSARY INTERMEDIATES
Articles of manufacture, machines, processes for using the articles and machines, processes for making the articles and machines, and products produced by the process of making, along with necessary intermediates, directed to a lock and key system.
Locking device
The locking device includes a key having a cylindrical shaft in which a guide groove is formed in the axial direction, and a cylinder lock which includes an outer cylinder, an inner cylinder, a locking bar and a tumbler, the inner cylinder has an inner cylinder main body rotatably accommodated in the outer cylinder, a rod fixed to the inner cylinder main body, and a key insertion slot, the locking bar is interposed between the inner cylinder main body and the outer cylinder and prevents the rotation of the inner cylinder by engaging and disengagingly locking the inner cylinder main body and the outer cylinder, and the tumbler has a guide convex portion engageably and detachably engaged with the key groove, and an inner concave portion rotatably received in the inner cylinder and dropping the locking bar.

Anti-vandal padlock
An anti-vandal padlock has a base, a buckling unit, two anti-sawing sleeves, a ball, and a locking mechanism. The base has a mounting passage and an annular groove formed on an inner surface of the mounting passage. The buckling unit has two straight segments. The second anti-sawing sleeve is rotatably and axially-movably mounted in the mounting passage, and has a ball hole. The ball is mounted in the second anti-sawing sleeve and is capable of protruding out of the ball hole. In the locked state, the locking mechanism makes the ball engage in the annular groove to limit movement of the second anti-sawing sleeve, such that the buckling unit cannot be detached from the second anti-sawing sleeve. The two anti-sawing sleeves are rotatably mounted on the two straight segments such that the buckling unit cannot be sawn off and has a better anti-theft ability.
Method of optimizing memory wire actuator energy output
In some embodiments, an apparatus for locking a computing device includes an actuator, a locking protrusion connected to a first portion of the computing device, a locking receptacle connected to a second portion of the computing device, a shape memory material (SMM) wire, and a force conditioner. The SMM wire has a first state and a second state and is movable between states by the actuator. The first state and the second state have first and second lengths, respectively. Moving from the first state to the second state applies a contraction force along a longitudinal direction of the SMM wire. The force conditioner is configured to apply a return force to the SMM wire that opposes the contraction face. The return force returns the SMM wire toward the first state while moving a maximum available force of the SMM wire to the second state of the SMM wire.
