An exemplary locking mechanism includes a plunger, a lock control member adjacent the plunger, a roller captured between the plunger and the lock control member, a driver operably connected with the lock control member, and a control assembly operable to control the driver to move the lock control member between a locking position and an unlocking position. The locking mechanism has a locking state in which the lock control member is in the locking position, and interference between the roller and the lock control member prevents movement of the plunger in a retracting direction. The locking mechanism has an unlocking state in which the plunger is in the unlocking position such that the roller is operable to move into a pocket formed in the lock control member, thereby enabling movement of the plunger in the retracting direction.

Lockset with powered retraction

An exemplary lockset includes a first bolt, a second bolt, and a drive assembly operable to retract the first bolt and the second bolt. The drive assembly includes a first gear train including a first input gear and a first output gear operably connected with the first bolt, a second gear train including a second input gear and a second output gear operably connected with the second bolt, a third input gear, and an electromechanical driver operable to rotate the third input gear in an unlocking direction. The third input gear is engaged with the first input gear and the second input gear such that rotation of the third input gear in the unlocking direction causes rotation of the first and second output gears, thereby retracting the first and second bolts.

Power controller for a door lock and method of conserving power

A power control system for use with an electric lock mechanism having an actuator comprises a power supply to output an output voltage to the actuator. A credential device signals the power supply to output the voltage upon receiving an authorized code. A microcontroller controls the power supply, the credential device, and the actuator and may operate in an Access Mode or a Dog Mode. When in Access Mode, the actuator is unpowered and the credential device is powered until an authorized code is received and the power supply powers the actuator. The Dog Mode has an awake mode where the actuator is powered and the credential device is unpowered after the actuator remains in the powered state for a length of time. A sleep mode has the actuator unpowered and the credential device powered until an authorized code is received and the power supply powers the actuator.

Electromechanical drive system

An access control system including a locking assembly and a drive assembly operable to actuate the locking assembly. The drive assembly includes an electromechanical actuator, an energy storage device, and a control system. The electromechanical actuator is operable, upon receiving power, to transition the locking assembly between a locked state and an unlocked state. The energy storage device is electrically coupled to the electromechanical actuator, and is configured to store electrical power from the power supply when the drive assembly is coupled to the power supply. The control system is configured to couple the drive assembly to the power supply in response to a first condition, and to thereafter transmit energy only from the energy storage device to power the electromechanical actuator, based at least in part upon a level of energy stored in the energy storage device. The locking assembly may further include a selectable power off function and a controller disposed within a lock housing and operable to control a state of the locking assembly between locked and unlocked positions. The electromechanical actuator is movable between first and second positions corresponding to the locked and unlocked positions, respectively. The locking assembly may further include a selector switch coupled to the controller to define a desired state of the locking assembly between one of an electrically locked (EL) and an electrically unlocked (EU) state in an electric power off condition.

An electro-mechanical lock is provided for a door. The lock includes inner and outer lock components mounted on opposite sides of the door and a tube extending between the inner and outer lock components, the tube being configured to receive a spindle extending through the door. The tube includes an electrical conductor integrated with the tube as a one-piece construction for transmitting electrical power and/or control signals between first and second electrical connectors at the inner and outer lock components. The tube is less fragile than conventional double tube arrangements in locks and thus can be more easily cut to length and installed at the door, improving reliability and cost effectiveness of methods of installation.
