KEYLESS PUCK LOCK APPARATUS AND SYSTEM
A keyless puck lock system with wireless communications and power interface. Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a keyless puck lock system enabling a low cost and high security solution that is difficult to tamper with and defeat. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the system uses a keyless puck lock assembly that includes a hasp assembly and a keyless lock mechanism that does not require any physical mechanical keys so that it does not have a mechanical cylinder inserted therein to lock or unlock the puck lock. Accordingly, the keyless puck lock system in accordance with one or more embodiments of the present invention does not have a physical keyway which is a security attack point that is included in conventional hockey puck-type locks.
ENERGY HARVESTING LOCK SYSTEM
An exemplary method includes transmitting a wireless power signal from an electrical device connected to line power, receiving the wireless power signal at an electronic access control device, and operating the electronic access control device using electrical power harvested from the wireless power signal. In certain forms, the method further includes adjusting an orientation of the antenna by which the wireless power signal is transmitted.
Electro-mechanical lock and installation method having integrated electrical conductor
An electro-mechanical lock is provided for a door. The lock includes inner and outer lock components mounted on opposite sides of the door and a tube extending between the inner and outer lock components, the tube being configured to receive a spindle extending through the door. The tube includes an electrical conductor integrated with the tube as a one-piece construction for transmitting electrical power and/or control signals between first and second electrical connectors at the inner and outer lock components. The tube is less fragile than conventional double tube arrangements in locks and thus can be more easily cut to length and installed at the door, improving reliability and cost effectiveness of methods of installation.
Electronic lock with selectable power off function
An apparatus and method is disclosed for electronic locks with a selectable power off function. The electronic lock includes an electronic controller disposed within a lock housing and operable to control a state of the lock between locked and unlocked positions. An electronic actuator electrically coupled to the controller is movable between first and second positions corresponding to a locked position and an unlocked position of the lock, respectively. The electronic lock further includes at least one electrical energy storage device and a selector switch coupled to the controller to define a desired state of the lock between one of an electrically locked (EL) and an electrically unlocked (EU) state in an electric power off condition.
MOTOR-DRIVEN LOCK WITH ROLLER
An exemplary locking mechanism includes a plunger, a lock control member adjacent the plunger, a roller captured between the plunger and the lock control member, a driver operably connected with the lock control member, and a control assembly operable to control the driver to move the lock control member between a locking position and an unlocking position. The locking mechanism has a locking state in which the lock control member is in the locking position, and interference between the roller and the lock control member prevents movement of the plunger in a retracting direction. The locking mechanism has an unlocking state in which the plunger is in the unlocking position such that the roller is operable to move into a pocket formed in the lock control member, thereby enabling movement of the plunger in the retracting direction.
LOCKSET WITH POWERED RETRACTION
An exemplary lockset includes a first bolt, a second bolt, and a drive assembly operable to retract the first bolt and the second bolt. The drive assembly includes a first gear train including a first input gear and a first output gear operably connected with the first bolt, a second gear train including a second input gear and a second output gear operably connected with the second bolt, a third input gear, and an electromechanical driver operable to rotate the third input gear in an unlocking direction. The third input gear is engaged with the first input gear and the second input gear such that rotation of the third input gear in the unlocking direction causes rotation of the first and second output gears, thereby retracting the first and second bolts.
Interactive door knob
A door knob assembly that provides an interactive visual and aural assembly familiar to a room occupant and that responds to variations in the manner of rotation of the knob in a plurality of responses, depending on the direction and rate of rotation applied to the knob, providing messages appropriate to the entertainment, safety and/or training of the knob operator and/or room occupant.
Security Indication Device and Combination Lock
An electronic combination lock comprising a rotatable dial, an energy-harvesting device operatively connected to and configured to harvest energy from the rotatable dial, an energy-storage device operatively connected to and configured to be powered by the energy-harvesting device, a security status indicator operatively connected to and configured to by powered by the energy storage device, and logic configured to determine whether the combination lock is in a secure state and to activate the security-status indicator when the electronic combination lock is not in a secure state. A security-indication device for use with a combination device. A method for indicating a combination lock is not in a secure state comprising the steps of harvesting energy, storing the harvested energy, determining whether the combination lock is in a secure state, and, upon determining the combination lock is not in a secure state, activating a security-status indicator by powering it with stored energy.
Accordingly, the keyless puck lock system in accordance with one or more embodiments of the present invention do not have a physical keyway which is a security attack point that is included in conventional hockey puck-type locks.
ELECTROMECHANICAL DRIVE SYSTEM
An access control system including a locking assembly and a drive assembly operable to actuate the locking assembly. The drive assembly includes an electromechanical actuator, an energy storage device, and a control system. The electromechanical actuator is operable, upon receiving power, to transition the locking assembly between a locked state and an unlocked state. The energy storage device is electrically coupled to the electromechanical actuator, and is configured to store electrical power from the power supply when the drive assembly is coupled to the power supply. The control system is configured to couple the drive assembly to the power supply in response to a first condition, and to thereafter transmit energy only from the energy storage device to power the electromechanical actuator, based at least in part upon a level of energy stored in the energy storage device. The locking assembly may further include a selectable power off function and a controller disposed within a lock housing and operable to control a state of the locking assembly between locked and unlocked positions. The electromechanical actuator is movable between first and second positions corresponding to the locked and unlocked positions, respectively. The locking assembly may further include a selector switch coupled to the controller to define a desired state of the locking assembly between one of an electrically locked (EL) and an electrically unlocked (EU) state in an electric power off condition.
