A locking pin includes a body having a plurality of apertures defined through a sidewall. A closure is disposed at an end of the body. A plurality of latch bolts is disposed in the body and adjacent to the closure. Each latch bolt is moveable through a corresponding one of the apertures and between a locked position, disposed at least partially outside of the body, and an unlocked position, disposed at least substantially within the body. A keeper is coupled to each of the latch bolts and configured to retain the latch bolt in the latched position and to bias the latch bolt for movement from the locked position to the unlocked position. A mechanism selectably engages each latch bolt to move the latch bolt to the locked position, and selectably disengages from the latch bolt to allow the keeper to move the latch bolt to the unlocked position.

An electronic barrel lock and key system that functions in combination with a computer that codes an electronic master key, or an electronic standard key, or an electronic programming module and includes an electronic lock having a lock security device. The master key has no restrictions, based on how it is programmed, therefore it can open any of the locks. The standard key includes restrictions that precludes the key from opening the lock. The programming module cannot open a lock it is only used to program or reprogram a lock. The lock security device is utilized to prevent a person from opening the lock by applying a high temperature to the lock. The security device utilizes a low-melt alloy that is isolated from the electronic elements located within the lock. When the low-melt alloy melts it causes the lock to be placed in a permanent locked state. The system also has a non-rotating non-keyed interface between the key and the lock.

ELECTRONIC LOCKING APPARATUS AND METHOD

An electronic locking mechanism has a body portion with movable retaining members that are controlled utilizing an electrically controlled actuator. The actuator operates the retaining member to move radially outwardly of the body portion circumference in a locked position and allows the retaining member to move radially inwardly of the circumference in an unlocked position. An electronic key can be utilized to operate the electronic locking mechanism.

A barrel lock key is configured to unlock a variety of barrel locks requiring various stroke lengths of a barrel lock key to be unlocked. The barrel lock key can be actuated between a neutral position, an intermediate position, and an overthrow position. In the neutral position, there are no outside forces acting on the barrel lock key. In an intermediate position, the barrel lock key can be configured to place a barrel lock in an unlocked orientation. In the overthrow position, the barrel lock key is fully actuated and is configured to maintain a barrel lock in an unlocked orientation without excessive forces that act to disengage the barrel lock key from the barrel lock.
