Reinforced motor vehicle lock

The invention relates to a motor vehicle lock, comprising a lock housing, a lock case, a locking mechanism and an operating device, wherein at least one component of the operating device extends through an opening in the lock housing and said opening is designed with at least one reinforcing insert. The main area of the plate or the metal sheet from which the lock case is made is basically relatively large. In light of this, it has proved advantageous to form the reinforcing insert from the lock case. Waste is thus avoided.

Lock with emergency actuator

A lock for closing a door with respect to a frame. The lock includes a lock body mounted on the door and a striker mounted on the frame, or vice versa. The lock body includes a catch element mounted so as to rotate between a striker keep position and a striker release position; elastic means suitable for driving the catch element from the striker keep position to the striker release position; a lever suitable for moving between two positions, a closing position in which it maintains the catch element in the striker keep position and an opening position in which it is disengaged from the catch element; and a service actuator suitable for applying a force f on the lever so as to bring it from the closing position to the opening position. The lock body further includes an emergency SMA actuator suitable for applying a force on the lever so as to bring it from the closing position to the opening position. The SMA actuator can apply a force higher than 100 N and including blocking means for allowing the force to be applied on the lever only when the force exceeds a predetermined threshold value.

Vehicle side portion structure

A vehicle side portion structure includes a front side door and a rear side door of a vehicle that does not have a center pillar. A lock member is disposed at a vertical direction lower portion of one side door of the front side door and the rear side door. When the one side door is closed, the lock member engages with the other side door to lock the one side door. A reinforcement member is provided inside the one side door at the vertical direction lower portion. A part of the reinforcement member is disposed on an upper side of the lock member so that the lock member is surrounded by the reinforcement member and the peripheral edge portion of the one side door as seen in a side view of the vehicle.

Vehicle side portion structure

A vehicle side portion structure includes a front side door and a rear side door of a vehicle that does not have a center pillar. A lock member is disposed at a vertical direction lower portion of one side door of the front side door and the rear side door. When the one side door is closed, the lock member engages with the other side door to lock the one side door. A reinforcement member is provided inside the one side door at the vertical direction lower portion. A part of the reinforcement member is disposed on an upper side of the lock member so that the lock member is surrounded by the reinforcement member and the peripheral edge portion of the one side door as seen in a side view of the vehicle.
