A method is provided for operating a system to automatically conduct hygiene cycles for a confined space such an interior space of a box suitable for storing and/or carrying packaged food. The system may include a hygiene device that can be attached to the box to conduct the hygiene cycles and a mobile device that can wirelessly communicate with the hygiene device to control the conduction of the hygiene cycles. The method may include automatically collecting information related to the hygiene cycles using the hygiene device and transmitting the collected information to a network directly or through the mobile device.

A method for disinfecting contact lenses, including immersing the contact lenses in a volume of cleaning agent with about 3% hydrogen peroxide for up to 4 hrs, and immersing up to 0.7 g of a fibrous catalyst enhancer material in the volume of cleaning agent for up to 4 hrs. The fibrous catalyst enhancer material is immersed simultaneously with the contact lenses.

A method for preparing an ophthalmic device containing an ultraviolet (UV) blocker is disclosed. The method involves (a) soaking an ophthalmic device in one or more first solvent solutions to swell the ophthalmic device; (b) soaking the swelled ophthalmic device in one or more second solvents solutions comprising a UV blocker to de-swell the ophthalmic device and entrap the UV blocker in the ophthalmic device, wherein the UV blocker is a benzotriazole and (c) sterilizing the de-swelled ophthalmic device.

A contact lens container can include a body. The body can include a floor, at least one wall connected to the floor, a cavity defined, at least in part, by the floor and the at least one wall, and a sensor oriented to take a measurement of a contact lens solution within the cavity when the cavity is at least partially filled with a contact lens solution.

A lens care container (1), in particular for contact lenses such as hard or soft contact lenses, comprises: a receptacle (2) for receiving a lens and a lens care liquid, a cap (3) configured to be attached to the receptacle (2) to close the receptacle (2), a sensor (5) configured to indicate an actual loading of the container (1) with germs or configured to indicate a pH value of the lens care liquid in the receptacle (2). The sensor (5) is arranged in the receptacle (2) when the cap (3) is attached to the receptacle (2).

A contact lens case with a plurality of sections configured to conjoin to each other. The sections each contain one or more hemispherical wells that align to form a spherical cavity to hold the contact lens therein when the sections are conjoined. The cavity may also be an ovoid, globular or a flattened sphere. The case may also include a first magnet to couple the first section to the second section, where the second section may have a second magnet or a magnetic material in a location that corresponds to the first magnet.

An embodiment of the invention is a basket for holding contact lenses. The basket comprises a first basket and a second basket mating members, each basket member comprises a basket wall defining a first cavity, a planar flange extending out around the first cavity, a plurality of spaced fingers extending upward circumferentially from the periphery of the cavity, wherein the first basket and second basket mating members having a same structure, wherein the first basket and second basket mating members forming a second cavity when mated for receiving said contact lens, the cavity inhibiting inversion or rolling over of said contact lens when emplaced therein. A tray that comprises a plurality of baskets is another embodiment of the invention. In addition, the invention provides a stack assembly that comprises a plurality of trays each of which comprises a plurality of baskets.

An anti-contamination contact lens package includes a substrate and a photocatalyst film layer formed on the substrate. A method for manufacturing the anti-contamination contact lens package is also disclosed.

A disinfection system of a contact lens comprising immersing the contact lens in a disinfecting solution containing hydrogen peroxide in a concentration of 1 to 10% and neutralizing the hydrogen peroxide in the disinfecting solution through contact with a metal catalyst, where the disinfecting solution contains an organic carboxylic acid or a salt of the organic carboxylic acid, the organic carboxylic acid having a structure in which a hydroxyl group and a carboxyl group are bonded to one carbon atom; the disinfecting solution is adjusted to have a pH of 6 to 8; and the disinfecting solution after the neutralization is adjusted to have an osmotic pressure of 250 to 350 mOsm.
