System for disinfecting contact lenses
The present invention is generally directed to a hydrogen peroxide-based lens care system for disinfecting contact lenses. Unlike hydrogen peroxide-based system known in the prior art, a lens care system of the present invention involves electrochemically neutralizing of hydrogen peroxide after any desired period of disinfection time for which contact lenses have been immersed in a hydrogen peroxide-based lens care solution.
DISINFECTION SYSTEM OF CONTACT LENS
A disinfection system of a contact lens comprising immersing the contact lens in a disinfecting solution containing hydrogen peroxide in a concentration of 1 to 10% and neutralizing the hydrogen peroxide in the disinfecting solution through contact with a metal catalyst, where the disinfecting solution contains an organic carboxylic acid or a salt of the organic carboxylic acid, the organic carboxylic acid having a structure in which a hydroxyl group and a carboxyl group are bonded to one carbon atom; the disinfecting solution is adjusted to have a pH of 6 to 8; and the disinfecting solution after the neutralization is adjusted to have an osmotic pressure of 250 to 350 mOsm.

OPHTHALMIC AND CONTACT LENS SOLUTIONS USING BICINE
The present invention relates to a lens care solution having 0.001 to about 5 weight percent of a low molecular weight amine of the general formula:

where R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are H or low molecular weight radicals, and R.sub.5 is a low molecular weight radical, or salt thereof; an effective amount of a tonicity agent; and the balance water.

The present invention relates to a lens care solution having 0.001 to about 5 weight percent of a low molecular weight amine of the general formula:

where R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are H or low molecular weight radicals, and R.sub.5 is a low molecular weight radical, or salt thereof; an effective amount of a tonicity agent; and the balance water.
Peroxide Contact Lens Care Solution
The invention is directed to a method of cleaning and disinfecting a contact lens. The method includes instructing a consumer to disinfect their contact lens comprising the following steps: remove a contact from an eye and position the lens in a lens assembly that includes a cap member; add a disinfection solution to the lens case such that the lens is submerged in the solution upon closure of the lens case with the cap member. The disinfection solution will comprise 0.5 wt. % to 6 wt. % hydrogen peroxide or a chemical precursor of hydrogen peroxide, and a P-metal modulating compound. The presence of the P-metal modulating compound in the disinfection solution decreases the neutralization rate of the hydrogen peroxide. The disinfection system exhibits a pseudo first-order, half-life of hydrogen peroxide from 12 minutes to 30 minutes over an initial sixty minutes of neutralization following exposure of the disinfection solution to a catalyst comprising a P-metal. This reduction in rate of peroxide neutralization can provide a more effective solution for killing certain microorganisms and fungi.
Compositions, Methods and/or Devices for Prevention and/or Treatment of Dry Eye Disorders
The present disclosure relates to compositions, methods and devices for treating, reducing or preventing one or more eye disorders, particularly dry eye disorders, in a subject by administering an amount of one or more fatty acids and/or fatty acid esters therapeutically effective to inhibit lipase activity while permitting bacterial growth or without substantially altering the dynamic microbial community of the eye. Typically, the fatty acids and/or fatty acid esters are C.sub.8 to C.sub.16 fatty acids and/or fatty acid esters.

Method and apparatus for sterilizing preform
A method of sterilizing a preform includes steps of: sterilizing bacteria adhering to a preform (1) made of resin by gasifying a sterilizer, discharging a sterilized gas (G) from a nozzle (6) toward a preform (1), now traveling, so as to adhere to the preform (1); activating the sterilizer adhering to the preform (1) by blasting hot air (P) to the preform; and sterilizing bacteria adhering to the preform, and removing the sterilizer adhering to the preform (1), wherein the above steps are performed sequentially in order. According to the above-mentioned steps, the sterilizer does not enter a blow-molding machine.
