An improved latching device that secures a lift-style hood is described with inherent properties for providing increased accessibility, functionality, stability, security and safety as compared to traditional designs.

Compression latch

A compression latch assembly for latching a panel to a frame includes a housing assembly, a lockplug assembly, a handle actuator assembly, and a rotating pawl assembly. The housing assembly defines an exterior well and a first and second compartment. The lockplug assembly resides within the first compartment and includes a lockplug having a circumferential guide surface. The handle actuator assembly has a handle within the exterior well, a crank coupled to the handle, and a drive shaft coupled to the crank. The handle and the crank rotate about common pivot point within the second compartment. The handle is selectively captured and ejected by interaction between the circumferential guide surface and a locking pin on the handle. The rotating pawl assembly has a hook defining a slot that receives the drive shaft. Pivotal movement of the handle actuates the hook by movement of the drive shaft within the slot.

Insulated transport cabinets for food and the like

The present disclosure provides an insulated transport cabinet for food or the like having a housing, a door, a hinge cover, and a hinge pin. The housing includes a barrel portion adjacent to a front surface and extending between top and bottom ends. The barrel portion includes a longitudinal axis, a gap separating the barrel portion into top and bottom barrel sections having first and second passageways aligned with the longitudinal axis, respectively. The door includes a hinge adjacent to a side surface and including a third passageway aligned with the longitudinal axis. An inner surface of the hinge pin complements an outer surface of the hinge. The hinge pin passes through the first, third, and second passageways. The door pivots about the longitudinal axis between an open position and a closed position. The longitudinal axis is offset from a center plane of the door.

Device for operating at least one aircraft door comprising a control handle
10087664 · 2018-10-02 · ·

An operating device for operating at least one door of an aircraft comprises a chassis that is fixed and secured to a fuselage of the aircraft, a control handle that is rotationally and translationally movable with respect to the chassis, a mechanism for converting a rotational movement of the control handle into an opening movement of the door. The translational movement allows the control handle to be in an in position in which it is aligned with the exterior surface of the fuselage and an out position in which it projects beyond the exterior surface of the fuselage. The control handle includes a cylindrical body and a head connected to one end of the body. The head of the control handle includes a fixed part rigidly connected to the body of the control handle and extending perpendicular thereto, and a movable part rotatably connected to the body and having a folded-down position against the fixed part and a deployed position in which the control handle has a T shape.

A latch assembly is provided where a latch bolt is moveable to open and close a door by unblocking pivotal movement of the latch bolt. Turning a door knob or door handle does not directly result in a corresponding retraction of the latch within a sleeve, but rather unblocks the bolt to freely pivot away from a latched position. In some embodiments, the latch assembly may include a sleeve that allows for a backset to be infinitely adjusted relative to an aperture of the sleeve. In some embodiments, the latch assembly may further include a dead latch to provide additional security against forced entry.
