Independent internal and external door latch actuation mechanisms

A latch system includes an actuation module having first and second actuation mechanisms. The first actuation mechanism includes a first handle coupled to a locking rod having an end slot and an oppositely disposed rod insert. The second actuation mechanism includes at least one second handle, a conversion block and an outer rod coupled together. The outer rod has an open end and a slot. At least one latch module has a retractable latch. A control cable connects the conversion block and the latch module such that rotation of the conversion block in a first direction retracts the latch. A lock is operably engagable with the end slot to selectively allow and prevent rotation of the inner rod. Selective rotation of the locking rod in the first direction rotates the conversion block. Rotation of the outer rod in the first direction rotates the conversion block without rotating the locking rod.

A compact door barricade apparatus for use on doors is described. The apparatus is equipped with a protective inner case, outer case, door mount, an upper barricade, a lower barricade, barricade pivot links, handles, and barricade latches. Screws or lag bolts are used to mount the barricade latches to the door frame. The door mount connects the apparatus to the door. The barricade pivot links effectively link the movement of the upper barricade to that of the lower barricade. The movement of the handle disposed on the apparatus facilitates the synchronous movement of the upper and lower barricades across the width of the door and door frame, effectively securing individuals within a room.

Vehicle Door Latch Security Tether

A vehicle that includes a door, handle, shaft, and a latch assembly is provided. The latch assembly is coupled to the door to selectively secure the door. The latch assembly includes a security tether configured to prevent the shaft from moving the pawl when the lock lever is located in the locked condition. The security tether further includes: a plate attachable to the latch assembly; the plate includes an aperture sized to receive at least a portion of the lock lever that is disposed through the aperture; the plate includes first and second stop surfaces to limit movement of the lock lever; the first and second stop surfaces are also spaced apart from each other; the lock lever is movable between the first and second stop surfaces; at least the first stop surface is spaced apart from the first location on the pawl; and the lock lever engages the first stop surface when the lock lever is located in the locked condition to prevent the pawl from moving to the unlatched condition and unlatching the latching assembly.

An emergency escape apparatus includes a support frame that is configured to be installed on a door or a wall and that defines an exit opening, an escape door that is located at an inner side of the exit opening and configured to open and close the exit opening and that defines an accommodation space, a driving unit located in the accommodation space and configured to rotate relative to the escape door, and an unlocking device that is located in the accommodation space, that is configured to be pushed by the driving unit, and that is configured to release coupling between the escape door and the support frame based on rotation of the driving unit. The driving unit is configured to be controlled by a control unit based on a sensor detecting an event.

A vehicle that includes a door, handle, shaft, and a latch assembly is provided. The latch assembly is coupled to the door to selectively secure the door. The latch assembly includes a security tether configured to prevent the shaft from moving the pawl when the lock lever is located in the locked condition. A vehicle storage compartment includes a base bin defining a storage cavity and configured to couple to a vehicle floor, a door coupled to the base bin and configured to move between a closed position and an open position, the door having a latch mechanism configured to selectively engage the base bin to facilitate maintaining the door in the closed position, and a locking assembly coupled to the door and configured to move between a locked position and an unlocked position. The locking assembly is configured to selectively engage the base bin in the locked position to facilitate preventing movement of the door from the closed position to the open position. The locking assembly is separate and independent of the latch mechanism such that the latch mechanism remains movable when the locking assembly is in the locked position.
