An apparatus includes a panel swingably mounted relative to a frame, and a locking element supported by a support arrangement. The support arrangement supports the locking element relative to the frame so as to be displaceable between a locked position in which at least part of the locking element is interposed between a pressure surface of the panel and a contact surface of the frame, thereby locking the panel to the frame, and an unlocked position. The support arrangement defines a path of motion of the locking element from an unlocked position to the locked position in which at least a terminal part of the path of motion is in a direction obliquely angled relative to a plane of closure of the panel within the frame.

A latch arrangement for fastening a panel of a door or a window to a frame element is provided. The latch arrangement includes a locking element mounted on the frame element and displaceable between a locked position in which the locking element can be engaged with the panel locking thereby the panel to the frame element, and an unlocked position in which the locking element is disengaged from the panel unlocking thereby the panel from the frame element. An actuating mechanism, optionally including a manually operable handle, is mounted on the panel and configured to selectively engage the locking element and to displace the locking element to the unlocked position. Where a stop latch provides deadlock functionality, the panel-mounted actuating mechanism preferably sequentially releases the stop latch and then displaces the locking element.

A locking mechanism for a door panel to be positioned within and out of blocking relationship with an opening. Mechanism includes a deadbolt rotatably connected to the wall and having a curved configuration and a locking bracket connected to the door panel. The locking bracket extends from the door panel in an angular direction with respect to a plane of door panel. With door panel in a closed position and deadbolt in a first position, the locking bracket extends through the curved configuration. Deadbolt is in blocking relationship with the locking bracket in a direction along a plane of the door panel and is not in blocking relationship in a direction along the locking bracket. With door panel in closed position, deadbolt is in a second position not in blocking relationship with the locking bracket permitting door panel to move in a direction along a plane of the door panel.

Locking element stable under panel distortion

A locking arrangement for a panel (10) mounted pivotally relative to a frame (12). The locking arrangement includes a locking element (14) mounted on the frame (12) so as to be pivotably about a pivot axis (16) parallel to an edge of the panel between a locked position engaged with the panel (10) and an unlocked position. A primary load bearing surface (202) of locking element (14) engages a pressure surface (204) of the panel oriented at an inclination to a plane of closure such that force applied to open panel (10) is opposed by compressive forces on locking element (14) acting towards frame (12). Locking element (14) also includes an anchoring configuration engaging a complementary feature of the panel to define a tensile engagement that opposes forces acting within the plane of closure to separate the panel from the frame.

A door or window arrangement has a panel movable relative to an opening bounded by a frame so as to close against a strike jamb or move away from it. A locking element moves between a locked state in which it engages between the panel and the strike jamb to prevent separation of the panel from the strike jamb and a released state in which the panel can be separated from the strike jamb. A linkage is displaced by a terminal part of a closing motion of the panel so that completion of the closing motion can only occur when the locking element assumes its locked state. Preferably, the linkage is deployed so that force applied to displace the panel through the terminal part of the closing motion results in a force applied to the locking element to displace it towards its locked state.

Locking apparatuses and a method of providing access control

Locking apparatuses and methods are provided for controlling access to a space using an improved locking apparatus. The locking apparatus includes a body, an actuator, and a lifting member, at least a portion of the lifting member being configured to be raised or lowered relative to the body according to a command position. The locking apparatus further includes a lifting mechanism configured to receive an output of the actuator and to raise or lower the lifting member responsive to the actuator output, and an adjustment member configured to contact the body and the lifting member. A manual operation-based locking apparatus is provided which uses a foot pedal to lock or unlock the locking apparatus. A method is provided for operating a mounted locking apparatus in a locked or unlocked state.

A door assembly includes a door panel having a first pair of bearings secured to a top portion of the door panel and a second pair of bearings secured to a bottom portion of the door panel. A wall having an opening which extends through the wall wherein a first rail track extends along a first end portion of the opening having a first opening and a second rail track extends along a second end portion of the opening having a second opening. At least one hinge blocking assembly includes a first bracket connected to the wall and a second bracket wherein the second bracket is rotatably mounted to the first bracket about a fixed axis of rotation defined by the at least one hinge blocking assembly wherein with the second bracket in a first position the second bracket extends away from the first bracket.

Latch Assembly For Use With An Inversion Drum

A hinged cover overlays an opening that provides access to a pressurized inversion drum. A releasable latch assembly holds the cover in a closed and locked position. The latch assembly comprises a plurality of first knuckles formed in the cover that are interlaceable with a plurality of second knuckles formed in the body adjacent the opening. The latch assembly further comprises a rotatable latch pin that may be installed within the first and second knuckles. The latch assembly is moved from an unlocked to a locked position by rotation of the latch pin within the knuckles.
