Door hinge assembly incorporating a latch to facilitate selective door removal

An exemplary vehicle hinge assembly can include a hinge pin and a latch. The latch is configured to transition from a locked position to an unlocked position when the hinge assembly is opened in a first orientation, and is configured to stay in the locked position when the hinge assembly is opened in a second orientation different than the first orientation. The latch in the locked position blocks movement of the hinge pin from the engaged position. An exemplary securing method can include rotatably coupling a door to a vehicle body with a hinge assembly. When the hinge assembly not inverted, movement of a hinge pin of the hinge assembly from an engaged to a disengaged position is permitted. When and inverted, movement of a hinge pin from the engaged position is blocked.

Removable hinge assemblies

Hinge assemblies having a tub knuckle, a lid leaf and a hinge pin assembly are provided. The tub knuckle has a base, a first pin holder extending from the base and a second pin holder extending from the base and spaced from the first pin holder. The lid leaf has a mounting plate and a pin holder. The hinge pin assembly is movable between a closed position and an open position, and includes a hinge pin and a retainer assembly that can be used to lock the hinge pin assembly in the closed and open positions.

Releasable ball lock hinge

A releasable ball lock hinge is disclosed. The releasable ball lock hinge includes a first body operable with a hinge ball and a release ball. Each ball can be movable within respective openings of the first body. The releasable ball lock hinge also includes a second body configured to rotatably interface and removably couple with the first body. The hinge ball releasably engages the second body. The second body has a release recess operable with the release ball to disengage the hinge ball and alternately couple and release the first body and the second body based on a relative position between the first body and the second body.

Glove box assembly with living hinge and methods of installing the same

A glove box assembly includes a first tab adapted for coupling to a dashboard substrate. A glove box door includes a second tab. The glove box assembly includes a living hinge. A hinge pin is located within the tabs. The tabs are pivotably coupled to the hinge pin and the living hinge retains a longitudinal position of the hinge pin.
