STROKE TREATMENT
The present invention relates to a shear-activated nanotherapeutic (SA-NT) for use in treating stroke by increasing blood supply to the brain via collateral vessels, wherein the SA-NT comprises an aggregate comprising a plurality of nanoparticles, the aggregate further comprising one or more vasodilating agents or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof; wherein the aggregate is configured to disaggregate above a predetermined shear stress.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INTEGRATED ENDOLUMINAL EMBOLIZATION AND LOCALIZED DRUG DELIVERY
A method for embolization of a blood vessel in a body, wherein at least one gelling component is biocompatible, biodegradable, with radiopaque capability and in liquid form to be supplied to a blood vessel by means of a single or multi lumen microcatheter and forming once in contact with a gelling agent in situ a deformable solid matrix in the body. The microcatheter may be provided with a first lumen disposed inside a second lumen. The gelling agent may be supplied to the blood vessel before the gelling component. Therapeutic compositions may be supplied to the blood vessel through the microcatheter.
Highly Elastic Medical Sealants for Flexible Soft Tissue
Provided herein are compositions, systems and surgical methods for treating expandable soft tissue utilizing a reactive liquid hydrogel sealant mixture including a cross-linkable electrophilic compound, a nucleophilic compound, and an amphiphilic poly(alkyl)ene glycol block polymer in an amount of 20% (w/v) or less of the sealant composition. The composition can optionally include a viscosifier, in an amount of 0.1% to 1.0% (w/v) of the sealant composition.
Method for preparing a haemostatic composition
The present disclosure relates to a method for preparing a haemostatic composition comprising thrombin, the method comprising the step of reconstituting a dry thrombin directly in a paste, such as a paste comprising a biocompatible polymer. The haemostatic composition comprising thrombin may be prepared from a dry thrombin composition and a paste in a single step operation and be used for treatment of a wound.
POLYMER PARTICLES
Biodegradable, cross-linked polymer particle embolics and methods of making the same are described. The particle embolics can be used as embolization agents.
ADHESIVE DEVICES AND USES THEREOF
The invention features adhesive devices for holding objects (e.g., bone fragments) fixed with respect to each other.
PHOSPHOCALCIC CEMENT COMPOSITION COMPRISING BLOOD
A bone cement paste containing a powder component comprising α-tricalcium phosphate (α-TCP) particles having an average size greater than or equal to 9 μm, and a liquid component comprising blood is disclosed. A method for preparation of the phosphocalcic cement composition is also disclosed.
Formed sheet product and hemostatic material
A formed sheet product of a polymer composition comprising at least one protein selected from the group consisting of fibrinogen and thrombin and at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of an aliphatic polyester and a water-soluble polymer, and a laminated formed sheet product comprising a first polymer composition layer composed of fibrinogen and a water-soluble polymer and a second polymer composition layer composed of thrombin and an aliphatic polyester are provided. These formed products are applied onto a wound site and function as a hemostatic material.
Nerve Repair Using Laser Sealing
The present invention provides a method of nerve repair using localized delivery of heat. The method involves localized induction of hyperthermia for end-to-end attachment of severed peripheral nerves by delivering stimulus responsive materials and exposing them to an excitation source under conditions wherein they emit heat. The generation of heat effects the joining of the nerve ends.
HYDRATION-BASED SHAPE MEMORY ADHESIVE MATERIALS AND METHODS OF MAKING
A dry shape memory adhesive material for adhering a target surface in the presence of fluid and for providing tunable mechanical contraction of an adhered surface. The dry shape memory adhesive material is pre-stretched and dried to provide an adhesive structure that implements a hydration-based shape memory mechanism to achieve both uniaxial and biaxial contractions of the adhered surface. According to preferred embodiments, the shape memory adhesive material includes a combination of one or more hydrophilic polymers or copolymers, one or more amine coupling group, and one or more cross linkers.
