An actuator for moving a movable furniture part includes at least one movably mounted actuating member for moving the movable furniture part, a spring device for applying a force to the actuating member, and a setting device by which a force of the spring device that acts on the actuating member can be set. The setting device has a threaded portion and a screw nut mounted adjustably between two end positions, and the force of the spring device acting on the actuating member can be set by adjusting the screw nut along the threaded portion. At least one supporting element is provided which relieves the screw nut in at least one of the two end positions of the force of the spring device.

Apparatus and Method for Control of Spring Force in a Door Closer or Operator
20170096848 · 2017-04-06 · ·

An apparatus for adjusting the force in a door operator or closer comprises an elongated housing and a spring therein connected to the door operator or closer. A spring collar is non-rotatable about the longitudinal axis of the housing and adapted to move linearly within the housing. A fixed adjusting screw extends along a longitudinal axis of the housing and the spring collar is slidable linearly along an outer surface of the adjusting screw. A nut is threadably engaged at a distal end of the adjusting screw and is rotatable about the longitudinal axis of the screw, the nut bearing on the spring collar during rotation. The spring collar bears on a distal end of the spring to vary the spring compression and thereby vary force applied by the door operator or closer. The housing has an opening in a sidewall through which the spring is visible, and the housing exterior surface includes markings indicating the degree of spring compression. An indicator is moveable along and visible from the exterior of the housing to indicate the compression of the spring.

Hinge

Provided is a hinge that includes a first leaf assembly including a first front leaf component coupled to a first rear leaf component for accommodating therebetween a portion of a panel having a first pair of holes. A first pair of fasteners may extend between the first front and rear leaf components and through the pair of holes in the panel to clamp the portion of the panel to the first leaf assembly. A second leaf assembly, hingedly coupled to the first leaf assembly about a hinge axis, may include a second front leaf component coupled to a second rear leaf component for accommodating therebetween a portion of a second panel having a second pair of holes. A second pair of fasteners may extend between the second front and rear leaf components and through the pair of holes in the second panel to clamp the portion of the second panel to the second leaf assembly. A spring may be coupled to the first and second leaf assemblies to bias the first and second leaf assemblies to move from an open position to a closed position. A dampener having a longitudinal axis may slow movement of the first and second leaf assemblies to the closed position, wherein the longitudinal axis of the dampener is located between the hinge axis and the first panel.

ITEM OF FURNITURE
