Hinge with feedback
An assembly includes a first structure, a second structure, a hinge that connects the first structure to the second structure for rotation of the first structure relative to the second structure around an axis, and a motion control component. The motion control component applies a feedback force to the hinge in response to an external force that is applied to the first structure. A magnitude of the feedback force is determined based on a current angular position of the first structure relative to the second structure.
System and method for providing a countdown notification relating to a movement of a barrier
A system and method for providing a countdown notification relating to a movement of a barrier that include measuring a duration of the movement of the barrier. The system and method also include determining a current state of the barrier and sending at least one barrier control signal to remotely control movement of the barrier. The system and method further include presenting the countdown notification relating to the movement of the barrier.
Methods and apparatus for increasing the range of digital inputs and outputs on a door operator or closer
A door operator includes a door driver for opening and closing a door, and a control system including a microprocessor having multiple microprocessor inputs. The microprocessor is connected to and controls the door driver. The microprocessor has multiple program modules corresponding to input functions to be performed by the door operator. The door operator includes a plurality of door operator inputs connected to corresponding ones of the microprocessor inputs, and a user interface connected to the microprocessor. The user interface allows a user to associate a selected door operator input and corresponding microprocessor input to a selected program module corresponding to a selected function to be performed by the door operator.
METHODS AND APPARATUS TO WIRELESSLY INTERLOCK DOORS
Methods and apparatus to wirelessly interlock doors are disclosed. A door system includes a user interface to receive interlock configuration data input from a user, the interlock configuration data to define an interlock condition to be satisfied before a first door is to undergo an operation, the interlock condition associated with a current state of a second door. The door system includes a first wireless transceiver to receive a signal from a second wireless transceiver associated with a second door. The method includes a door operation controller to at least one of (1) implement the operation of the first door in response to a request when the current state of the second door satisfies the interlock condition, (2) ignore the request, or (3) not execute the operation of the first door in response to the request when the current state of the second door does not satisfy the interlock condition.
Carbon Defense
The present invention relates to a home safety device for use with a garage area in the home to detect the level of carbon monoxide and alert the user or occupants in the home accordingly. The device is configured to continual monitoring of the carbon monoxide levels in the garage. When the carbon monoxide level reaches a dangerous level for a prescribed amount of time, the device sounds a high-decibel alarm and sends a signal to the electric garage door opener to open the garage door simultaneously. In response to the transmitted signal, the garage door opens to significantly increase the ventilation and lower the CO level within the garage. The fresh air disperses and dilutes the carbon dioxide rendering a much safer environment. The device further configured to alert the user via a text message.
REMOTE MONITORING AND CONTROL OF MOVABLE BARRIER STATUS
A system for moving a barrier includes a motor with an integrated encoder operative to generate pulses as a function of rotation of the rotatable shaft of the motor. A preferred form of encoder is a rotary optical encoder to generate optical pulses as a function of rotational movement of the rotatable shaft. Both a microcontroller to determine door status and a controller to control door movement receive the pulses and separately execute methods in response thereto.
REMOTELY OPERATED RAILCAR HATCHES
A railcar hatch control system and method for operating railcar hatches of a multi-railcar train is disclosed. A multi-railcar train may have a locomotive and a plurality of railcars having railcar hatches that can be opened and closed. The system and method may include displaying railcar identification information for the railcars on an operator display device, and receiving selections of railcars from an operator that will have a railcar hatch operation performed thereon, such as opening or closing the hatches. The railcar hatch operation is input, and the system and method control the railcar hatch operation being performed only on the selected railcars, and not on the railcars that have not been selected by the operator. The system and method may have operator interfaces devices at an operator station of the train, or at a remote location or on a remote device that communicates wirelessly with the train.
Window systems and components
A window system includes a window frame; a transparent window pane; an energy harvesting device coupled to the window frame or the transparent window frame; an output device that uses or transmits electricity; and a battery housed in the window frame, the battery being in electrical communication with the energy harvesting device and the output device.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR AUTOMATICALLY CONTROLLING MOVEMENT OF A BARRIER
A system and method for automatically controlling movement of a barrier that include determining at least one zone associated with the barrier. The system and method also include determining a current state of the barrier. The system and method additionally include sending a barrier control signal to remotely control movement of the barrier. The system and method further include presenting the current state of the barrier, wherein the current state of the barrier is updated based on remotely controlling the movement of the barrier.
