Tissue sealant compositions, vascular closure devices, and uses thereof
The present invention provides tissue sealant compositions and vasculature closure devices useful for the optical detection of tissue seal and/or clot formation. Compositions and devices of the present invention comprise optical dyes which undergo an observable change as the compositions and/or devices are incorporated into a tissue seal and/or clot, for example a change in fluorescence quantum yield and/or a change in visual color including a change in emission and/or absorption wavelength. Tissue sealants and vasculature closure devices of the present invention are useful for visualizing seal and/or clot formation, for example, during or after surgical procedures, after catheter removal, etc. The present invention further provides methods for formation and optical detection of tissue seals or vasculature puncture closures as well as medical kits useful for the formation and optical detection of tissue seals or vasculature puncture closures.
TISSUE PATCH
Tissue patches and associated systems and methods are described. Certain embodiments are related to inventive systems and methods in which tissue patches can be made quickly and robustly without the use of complicated fabrication or sterilization equipment. For example, in some embodiments, tissue patches are made by applying a compressive force to a liquid medium comprising fibrinogen (and/or fibrin) between two surfaces (e.g., within a syringe or other chamber). A filter can be placed within or near the volume in which the compressive force is applied to the liquid medium such that unwanted material (e.g., water, blood cells, and the like) is passed through the filter while desirable components (e.g., fibrin, fibrinogen, and/or other desirable components) are retained by the filter to form the patch. In this way, the concentration of fibrin (and/or fibrinogen) within the liquid medium can be increased, potentially dramatically, as the compressive force is applied to the liquid-containing composition. In addition, in some embodiments, at least a portion of the fibrinogen and/or fibrin can chemically react (e.g., the fibrinogen can polymerize to form fibrin and/or the fibrin can cross-link) during application of the compressive force. Reaction and concentration can lead to the formation of a highly-concentrated, mechanically robust patch that can be handled relatively easily and provide good structural reinforcement at a wet site, such as a bleeding wound.
METHOD FOR TREATING ACTIVE BLEEDING USING BIOCOMPATIBLE HEMOSTATIC AND SEALANT COMPOSITIONS
The present specification describes a biocompatible hemostatic composition and a biocompatible tissue sealant, which when used in combination provides a safe and effective method of achieving hemostasis. The biocompatible composition and sealant may be applied either on a surface of the patient's body, or inside the body cavity. The combination may be used to control bleeding from external wounds and internal injuries, as well as to minimize bleeding during surgical procedures.
Tissue matrix materials and enzymatic adhesives
The present application relates to use of transglutaminases to treat various tissue matrix products. The methods can include application of a transglutaminase to a partially denatured collagen-containing tissue matrix and implantation of the tissue matrix. The transglutaminase can facilitate adhesion with another collagen-containing tissue matrix, tissue surrounding the tissue matrix after implantation, or both.
Apparatus and method for producing augmentive products
An apparatus for shaping a Platelet Rich Fibrin component of patient whole blood includes a main body. The main body includes a substantially planar surface. The main body also has a reservoir positioned therein. The substantially planar surface includes a plurality of channels fluidly connecting the substantially planar surface and the reservoir. The apparatus also includes a lid which is positioned over the substantially planar surface. The lid is used to compress a Platelet Rich Fibrin component. Liquids that are expressed from the Platelet Rich Fibrin component flow to the reservoir. The apparatus also includes openings for forming plugs of Platelet Rich Fibrin material.
Dual syringe cartridge and housing
A dispensing device and cartridge for simultaneous delivery and mixing of multiple co-reactive materials, the cartridge having proximal and distal ends, and having an elongated holder body with substantially parallel longitudinal voids. Multiple syringe bodies are disposed parallel within the voids and multiple co-reactive materials are separately disposed in the syringe bodies. The dispensing device also includes a longitudinal housing which is structured and arranged to receive the cartridge.
Fibrin sealant products
A fibrin sealant product having a plurality of layers that each includes a dextran support and at least one fibrin sealant agent. The at least one fibrin sealant agent is placed on the dextran support to form each of the layers. The plurality of layers is placed in a stacked configuration to form the fibrin sealant product. A plurality of crimps is dispersed over a surface of the fibrin sealant product to retain the plurality of layers in a position with respect to each other.
APPARATUS AND METHOD OF USING IN SITU SOLIDIFYING COMPLEX COACERVATES FOR VASCULAR OCCLUSION
Described herein are the use of fluid complex coacervates that produce solid adhesives in situ to anchor medical devices such as catheters in a blood vessel. The anchored devices permit the targeted delivery of bioactive agents. The anchored devices can perform as an embolic agent by reducing or preventing blood flow in the vessel. Additionally, the embolic produced from the solid adhesive produced in situ can also include one or more bioactive agents that can be released in a controlled manner.
FIBRIN HYDROGELS
This document provides fibrin hydrogels and methods and materials for making and using fibrin hydrogels. For example, this document provides fibrin hydrogels containing trypan blue (TB), Evans blue (EB), and/or one or more isomers thereof. Methods for making and using fibrin hydrogels containing TB, EB, and/or one or more isomers thereof also are provided.
CELL PREPARATIONS FOR EXTEMPORANEOUS USE, USEFUL FOR HEALING AND REJUVENATION IN VIVO
The present invention relates to new plasma or new platelet-rich plasma preparations, new cell dissociation methods, new cell associations or compositions, a method of preparation thereof, a use thereof, devices for the preparation thereof and preparations containing such a platelet-rich plasma preparation and cell associations or compositions. Specifically, the invention provides plasma or platelet-rich plasma alone or in cell composition preparations for use in tissue regeneration and bone regeneration and pain reduction.
