SPRAY-DRIED THROMBIN AND METHODS OF USING AND MAKING SPRAY-DRIED THROMBIN

Spray-dried thrombin materials obtained from feedstock solutions comprising less than 5% by weight albumin and excluding trehalose or other excipients as well as methods of manufacturing the thrombin materials and methods of treating bleeding wounds are disclosed. The methods of use include applying reconstituted spray-dried thrombin topically to a bleeding site, optionally in conjunction with gelatin.

ADHESIVE MATERIAL WITH TRIGGERABLE ON-DEMAND DETACHMENT
20210380848 · 2021-12-09 ·

An adhesive material that provides fast and robust adhesion on wet surfaces, where the adhesion formed is detachable on-demand. The adhesive material is formed of one or more hydrophilic polymers or copolymers grafted with one or more amine coupling groups via a plurality of cleavable physical bonds and/or cleavable covalent bonds and one or more cross linkers. Application of the adhesive material on a wet surface causes the adhesive material to absorb liquid to thereby swell the adhesive material to form a layer of hydrogel, resulting in the formation of temporary crosslinks followed by covalent crosslinks with the surface. Introducing a triggering agent cleaves the cleavable physical bonds and/or cleavable covalent bonds to allow for non-traumatic detachment of the adhesive material from the surface.

METHODS AND KITS FOR PRODUCING A FIBRIN MATRIX

Methods for producing a fibrin matrix comprising a fusion peptide are described herein. In some embodiments, the method includes providing three different components, including a first component containing fibrinogen or a fibrinogen precursor and optionally, transglutaminase or a transglutaminase precursor, a second component containing thrombin or a thrombin precursor, and a third component containing a fusion peptide. In these embodiments, neither the first component nor the second component includes the fusion peptide. In some embodiments, the first or second components are premixed with the third component. The first, second and third components are mixed to form a fibrin matrix comprising a covalently linked fusion peptide. The mixing is carried out in a time frame of not more than 5 days. A kit for producing the fibrin matrix comprising a covalently linked fusion peptide is also described herein.

VASCULAR EMBOLIC SYSTEM

Systems and methods of blocking a biological vessel 2 are provided. The systems and methods may comprise introducing to the vessel an amphiphilic peptide. The peptide may comprise at least thirteen amino acids that may alternate between a hydrophobic amino acid and a hydrophilic amino acid. The peptide may form a beta- sheet spontaneously in an aqueous solution in the presence of a cation.

USE OF PHOTOSYNTHETIC SCAFFOLDS IN TISSUE ENGINEERING

The present invention is concerned with a photosynthetic scaffold that delivers oxygen and its uses for tissue engineering and the treatment of ischemia.

HAEMOSTATIC POWDER

The present invention relates to a haemostatic powder comprising at least 10 wt. % of particle agglomerates, said particle agglomerates having a diameter in the range of 1-500 μm and comprising: electrophilic polyoxazoline particles containing electrophilic polyoxazoline carrying at least 3 reactive electrophilic groups that are capable of reacting with amine groups in blood under the formation of a covalent bond; and nucleophilic polymer particles containing a water-soluble nucleophilic polymer carrying at least 3 reactive nucleophilic groups that, in the presence of water, are capable of reacting with the reactive electrophilic groups of the electrophilic polyoxazoline under the formation of a covalent bond between the electrophilic polyoxazoline and the nucleophilic polymer.

When applied to a bleeding site, the haemostatic powder of the present invention turns into a gel while at the same time binding to proteins present in the blood and on the surrounding tissue.

Methods and compositions for tissue adhesives

Disclosed herein are methods of connecting disrupted tissue, tissue repair, treating colorectal disorder and tissue welding. The methods comprise using a bioadhesive composition comprising ELP and light absorbing chromophores and irradiating the bioadhesive tissue.

Nanofiber structures and methods of use thereof

Coated and expanded, nanofiber structures are provided and methods of use thereof.
