Systems and methods for automated operation and handling of autonomous trucks and trailers hauled thereby

A system and method for operation of an autonomous vehicle (AV) yard truck is provided. A processor facilitates autonomous movement of the AV yard truck, and connection to and disconnection from trailers. A plurality of sensors are interconnected with the processor that sense terrain/objects and assist in automatically connecting/disconnecting trailers. A server, interconnected, wirelessly with the processor, that tracks movement of the truck around and determines locations for trailer connection and disconnection. A door station unlatches/opens rear doors of the trailer when adjacent thereto, securing them in an opened position via clamps, etc. The system computes a height of the trailer, and/or if landing gear of the trailer is on the ground and interoperates with the fifth wheel to change height, and whether docking is safe, allowing a user to take manual control, and optimum charge time(s). Reversing sensors/safety, automated chocking, and intermodal container organization are also provided.

A fold-out table for a truck bed is disclosed. The fold-out table includes a tabletop configured to extend longitudinally along an inner sidewall of the truck bed. The fold-out table further includes one or more hinges disposed below an upper rim of the inner sidewall of the truck bed. The hinges are configured to couple the tabletop to the inner sidewall of the truck bed so that the tabletop is pivotable between a raised position and a lowered position. The tabletop may be substantially perpendicular to the inner sidewall of the truck bed when the tabletop is in the raised position and substantially parallel to the inner sidewall of the truck bed when the tabletop is in the lowered position.

CONCEALED HINGE ASSEMBLY FOR A DOOR
20170321462 · 2017-11-09 ·

The invention relates to a concealed pivot hinge assembly [10] suitable for hingedly mounting a door [12] to a frame, particularly, although not exclusively, for connecting doors of storage, shipping and cargo containers, such as those which may be used on ships, rail lines and trucks, to a container in order to protect against theft. The concealed pivot hinge assembly [10] is characterised therein that it comprises a continuous, elongate hinge extending between and pivotably secured at two opposing ends thereof to the frame such that the hinge assembly [10] also constitutes a door post about which the door [12] is swiveled. The hinge assembly [10] comprises an internal axle shaft [18] which is secured at two opposing ends thereof to the frame; and an external load-bearing shaft [20] which extends coaxially with the internal shaft [18] and is pivotally secured at two opposing ends thereof to the frame such that the external shaft [20] is pivotable relative to the internal shaft [18], the arrangement being such that the door [12] is secured to the external shaft [20] so that pivoting of the external shaft [20] swivels the door [12] between a closed and an open position. The invention extends to a door [12] and a container [44] including such a concealed hinge assembly [10]. The invention also includes a remotely operable locking mechanism [56] for use in connection with such doors [12].
