Window assembly having frameless appearance and removable glass panel

A window assembly for installing in a window framing (also referred to as a “window casing”) of a wall of a building. The window assembly is configured to have a frameless appearance when installed with the finish surround installed around the interior and/or exterior of the window. The window assembly also allows the glass panel to be removed with a minimum of removal of the finish surround, such as without removing any of the finish surround, or only removing the finish surround around several sides of the only one of the interior or exterior of the window. For example, in most cases, only the interior finish surround around the right side and left side of the installed window frame needs to be removed to remove and replace the glass panel. Furthermore, the window assembly includes an integrated drain for draining moisture which leaks into the window assembly.

The window sheet unit has opposite inside and outside surfaces. The inner bar holder is made of metal, is disposed around a periphery of the inside surface, and is adapted to be secured to the building wall. The outer bar holder is made of metal, is disposed around a periphery of the outer side surface, is spaced apart from the inner bar holder, and is adapted to be secured to the building wall. The inner bar holder and the outer bar holder are not directly interconnected by a metal structure. The window sheet unit is secured between the outer and inner bar holders.

In some examples, each end cap includes a main body and a step defined within the main body for supporting an end of the sill assembly, wherein the step extends at an oblique angle to a length of the side jamb associated with the end cap. The provision of an angled or obliquely oriented shelf eliminates the need to mill a similarly shaped structure within the wooden side jambs.

The light modulation controller is in communication with at least one light modulation element of a fenestration assembly having a frame and a panel. The light modulation controller includes a light prescription module configured to provide a specified light prescription for the building interior. A lighting difference module is configured to determine a prescription difference between the specified light prescription and ambient light. A dynamic light module of the light modulation controller operates the at least one light modulation element according to the prescription difference. The ventilation modulation controller is in communication with at least one operator configured to open and close the panel. A ventilation prescription module provides a specified ventilation prescription for the building interior, and a dynamic ventilation module implements panel closing and opening according to the specified ventilation prescription.
