Method for producing calcium carbonate block

To provide a method for producing a calcium carbonate block for medical use which is useful as a bone substitute or a bone substitute raw material needed in medical care, which is a method for producing a calcium carbonate block that satisfies the following desired properties: 1) the calcium carbonate block has excellent mechanical strength; 2) the calcium carbonate block can be produced by a simplified production method; 3) the calcium carbonate block contains no impurity; and 4) the calcium carbonate block has high reactivity. A method for producing a calcium carbonate block, comprising a step of shaping a water-containing calcium hydroxide block and a carbonation step of immersing the calcium hydroxide block in a carbonate ion-containing aqueous solution.

Injectable composition in hydrogel form, comprising water and micronized croscarmellose sodium. Method for preparing said injectable composition comprising mixing the components and heat treating the obtained composition at a temperature between 90° C. and 150° C., preferably between 100° C. and 130° C.

Connective tissues, such as bone, dentin or pulp, regenerative material comprising calcium silicate

A regenerative material in the connective tissues (such as bone, dentin or pulp) regeneration field. More precisely, a connective tissue regenerative material, preferably a bone, dentin or pulp regenerative material, including: a porous polymer matrix having interconnected pores; and non-hydrated calcium silicate particles; wherein: the polymer matrix is anhydrous; the non-hydrated calcium silicate particles have a d.sub.50granulometry, preferably ranging from 0.05 μm to less than the average diameter size of the pores of the matrix; and the non-hydrated calcium silicate particles being coated on the inside walls of the pores of the matrix. Also, a method for preparing the connective tissue regenerative material and uses of the regenerative materials, such as in the dental field; especially, for providing regenerative materials with improved biomechanical and osteoinductive properties (i.e. good migration, adhesion and proliferation of cells; enhanced mechanical properties; and optimal and controlled biodegradability).

ORTHOPEDIC REPAIR SCAFFOLD, PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF AND USE THEREOF
20230330302 · 2023-10-19 ·

Provided are an orthopedic repair scaffold, a preparation method thereof and use thereof. The orthopedic repair scaffold is a three-dimensional porous scaffold. A material of the orthopedic repair scaffold comprises the following components in mass percentage: 80%-95% of a biodegradable polymer and 5%-20% of a biodegradable nanoparticle, where the biodegradable nanoparticle is a nanoparticle of manganese compound. The preparation method of the orthopedic repair scaffold comprises: preparing a homogeneous solution comprising a biodegradable polymer and a biodegradable nanoparticle according to the mass percentage; preparing the homogeneous solution through a curing molding process into a molded three-dimensional porous scaffold; and freeze-drying the molded three-dimensional porous scaffold to obtain the orthopedic repair scaffold. The orthopedic repair scaffold can better promote healing of a bone injury and has an excellent mechanical performance and a good medical imaging function.

Embodiments of the invention include silica fiber compositions useful for treatment of animal wounds and tissue, as well as for other applications in industry. The fiber compositions may be formed via electrospinning of a sol gel produced with a silicon alkoxide reagent, such as tetraethyl ortho silicate, alcohol solvent, and an acid catalyst.

Esophageal stent including a valve member

An example medical device is disclosed. The example medical device includes a tubular scaffold. The scaffold includes a longitudinal axis, an inner surface and an outer surface. The medical device also includes a flexible valve extending radially inward from the inner surface of the scaffold. The valve includes an annular chamber extending circumferentially around the inner surface of the scaffold and is configured to shift from a closed configuration to an open configuration.

Small joint fixation

A method of joining adjacent bone includes providing a medical device having a first implant portion, a second implant portion attached to the first implant portion, and a driver assembly having an instrument adapted to form an opening in bone. The driver assembly is integrally connected to and removably attached to the second implant portion at a connection, distal from the first implant portion. The driver assembly further has a wire driver extending therefrom, distal from the first implant portion. The method further includes inserting the wire driver into a wire driver tool; placing the first implant portion against a first bone structure; inserting the first implant portion into the first bone structure; removing the second implant portion from the driver assembly; using the driver assembly to form an opening in a second bone structure, adjacent to the first bone structure; and inserting the second implant portion into the opening.
