Anti-rattle elements for internal divider of glass assembly
10900274 · 2021-01-26 · ·

An insulated glass assembly includes a first pane of translucent, obscure, or transparent sheet material, a second pane of translucent, obscure, or transparent sheet material spaced apart from the first pane, a perimeter spacer positioned between the first and second panes and extending around the perimeter of the panes, and an internal divider disposed between the first and second spaced apart panes. The internal divider is spaced from the first pane and second panes of sheet material to form a first gap and a second gap therebetween. The insulated glass assembly further includes a first spring element and a second element within the gaps between the internal divider and the first and second spaced apart panes. The first spring element and the second element combine to bias the internal divider against contact with either of the first and second spaced apart panes.

An apparatus for selectively viewing a projection includes a first pane having a top margin and a bottom margin, an angled panel having a top edge and a bottom edge, wherein one of the top edge and the bottom edge is situated proximate the first pane; and a projector configured to project onto one of the first pane and the angled panel. The first pane and the angled panel are spatially connected by a rim at the top and bottom margins of the first pane and the top and bottom edges of the angled panel.

APPARATUS FOR DISPERSING IMPACT FORCES

A device for reducing impact forces upon a surface includes a base comprising a first contact portion and a transition portion, a contact member disposed between the base and the surface; and a biasing portion disposed between the first contact portion of the base and the surface. At least a first portion of an impact force upon the surface is transferred from the contact member to the base, and a second portion of the impact force is subsequently returned to the surface, the second portion being less than the first portion.

A system for reducing the effect of a force includes a panel having a first side and a second side; a plurality of contact members disposed around a perimeter of the panel first side; and a biasing member positioned around a perimeter of the panel second side. The perimeter of the panel second side generally corresponds to the perimeter of the panel first side. The biasing member biases the contact members toward the panel first side. In a use configuration, a force received by the panel second side is at least partially transferred to the contact members causing at least one of the contact members to temporarily lose contact with the panel first side, whereby the return of the contact member into contact with the panel first side imparts a second force onto the panel first side, the second force being less than the force transferred to the contact members.

Historically accurate simulated divided light glass unit and methods of making the same

The insulated glass unit (IGU) that replicates a historic glass window includes a single simulated divided light glass pane, a low-e glass layer, and spacer grills disposed therebetween. True divided light glass window panes are scanned to obtain surface characteristic data, subsequently used to design a pane that includes slumped areas corresponding to the unique topological characteristics of antique glass, separated by flat areas. The flat surfaces provide for sealing the IGU with the spacer grills, while the optics of the original historic glass are preserved via the slumped areas. A mold of the designed pane is then 3D printed in furan resin sand, and a glass layer is melted over the mold to create a one-piece pane that includes the antique features. Accurate replication of these windows enables historic building renovation with modern insulated windows with less sealing while retaining the original appearance, providing improvements in longevity and efficiency.

Window with selectively writable image(s) and method of making same

Certain embodiments of this invention relates to a writable window (e.g., IG window unit), where images (e.g., advertisements, logos, designs, pictures and/or words) can be selectively written into the window and are designed to be viewed by humans and/or animals. A substrate (e.g., glass substrate) supports a solar coating such as a low emissivity (low-E) coating which may include at least one infrared (IR) reflecting layer of or including silver that is located on and directly contacting a contact/seed layer of or including a material such as zinc oxide and/or zinc stannate. A radiation source (e.g., laser(s) and/or lamp(s)) may be used to selectively expose certain areas of the coating to radiation (e.g., UV radiation). The exposed area(s) of the coating, after being exposed and heated, have different optical characteristic(s) (e.g., higher visible transmission) than the area(s) of the coating not exposed to the radiation, so that following the laser exposure the exposed area(s) form an image(s) designed to be viewed by humans and/or animals.

Disclosed is technology addressing lighting issues using a signature perforated design diffuser panel that provides a dual purposeartistic and artificial light source. Stated differently, the disclosed technology provides diffused lighting while creating a signature geometric perforated pattern. When turned off, the technology is wall art, and, when turned on, it is wall art that provides a signature lighting experience. Embodiments also include the same diffuser technology used to modify and condition natural light sources (e.g. sun light).
