A welded steel door including a pan having a bottom surface forming a first face of the door and flanges extending on opposite edges thereof forming opposite side edges of the door, the flanges having a lid engaging surface spaced from the bottom surface, a lid having a top surface forming a second face of the door opposite the first face, opposite edges of the top surface each having a hem mated with a respective lid engaging surface of each flange, the hem including a portion of the top surface folded back on itself, and a plurality of welds securing the lid to the pan. The welds extend between the portion of the top surface of the lid folded back on itself of each hem and the respective lid engaging surface of each flange and are thereby concealed.

Fire rated door core

A core for a fire rated door includes a fire resistant center panel and an extruded fire resistant border. The fire resistant center panel has a bottom, a top, a first side, a second side, a first end and a second end. The fire resistant center panel is made of a first fire resistant material. The extruded fire resistant border is attached to the first side, the second side, the first end and the second end of the fire resistant center panel. The extruded fire resistant border is made of a second fire resistant material having a higher density than the first fire resistant material.

A security door hinge assembly is provided, comprising a door frame structure, having at least a head member, a first jamb member and a second jamb member, and at least one door leaf. The door leaf further comprises a leaf frame structure, having at least a top rail member, a bottom rail member, a hinge stile member and a lock stile member; an inner leaf panel, mounted to a first side of said leaf frame structure and extending past said hinge stile member, so as to form an inner leaf flange; an outer leaf panel, mounted to a second side of said leaf frame structure, opposite said first side, and extending past said hinge stile member, so as to form an outer leaf flange, and wherein, in use, said door leaf is operable between a first closed position and a second open position. The security door hinge assembly further comprises a hinge chamber positioned between said first jamb member and said hinge stile; a hinge-mount bracket, coupled to said first jamb member; a hinge mechanism, having at least one pivot axis and which is located within said open hinge chamber and adapted to pivotally mount said door leaf to said hinge-mount bracket, and wherein, in said first closed position, said inner leaf flange is in an exteriorly overlapping engagement with at least a portion of said hinge mount bracket, so as to prevent access to said hinge mechanism.

DOOR WITH FRAMELESS GLAZED UNIT, AND RELATED KIT AND METHODS

A door includes a door frame, first and second door skins having rectangular outer peripheries and inner openings, and a frameless glazed unit received at the openings. The door skins include exterior surfaces facing away from the door frame and opposite interior surfaces facing and secured to opposite sides of the door frame. The exterior and interior surfaces of the first and second door skins establish integral lips and grooves of the first and second door skins. Opposite sides of the frameless glazed unit directly contact and are sealed by the integral lips and sealant and/or adhesive contained in the grooves of the first and second door skins.

Gypsum composites used in fire resistant building components

A composite product includes gypsum in an amount of 70 to 90% by weight, fibers in an amount of 1.5 to 26% by weight substantially homogeneously distributed through the composite, and a rheology-modifying agent in an amount of 0.5 to 6% by weight. The composite is caused or allowed to cure to form a cured composite. The cured composite is a fire resistant component used in a fire-rated door core, a fire-rated door or a fire-rated building panel. The fire resistant component may include a building panel, a door panel, a door core, a door rail, a door stile, a door lock block, a door border, or a door insert.

A structural panel includes a shell having spaced first and second exterior panels and frame members adjacent edges of the panels, and at least one polymeric sheet disposed between the exterior panels and bonded to an adjacent exterior panel. The polymeric sheet is made of a thermoplastic material and has a plurality of openings through its thickness spaced apart by flat wall portions of the polymeric sheet. Stiffeners are disposed between the polymeric sheets and are secured by polymeric end caps. The end caps are made of a thermoplastic material and have a plurality of openings through their thickness for receiving the stiffeners. A foam insulation material fills substantially all the space between the polymeric sheets, stiffeners, and frame members in the shell interior. At least one blast- or ballistic-resistant core layer may be disposed adjacent the at least one polymeric sheet.
