Antibacterial Three-dimensional Porous Bone Implant Material and Preparation Method Therefor
An antibacterial three-dimensional porous bone implant material. The antibacterial three-dimensional porous bone implant material comprises: a three-dimensional porous bone implant material; and an in-situ growth film layer in-situ growing on the surface of the three-dimensional porous bone implant material, wherein the in-situ growth film layer comprises a functional substance and an antibacterial substance, and the antibacterial substance comprises any one or more of zinc ions, copper ions or silver ions. The in-situ growth film layer has an antibacterial effect. The macro pore size and the micro pore size of the antibacterial three-dimensional porous bone implant material coexist, micro pores in a micro-arc oxidation film layer on a porous wall can provide anchoring points for bone growth, and thus, the implant material in the early stage of implantation can have an antibacterial function and the biologically active functions of bone growth and bone induction.

Biofilm resistant medical implant
A method of incorporating silver and/or copper into a biomedical implant includes: providing an implant having an outer surface; depositing silver and/or copper onto the outer surface of the implant; diffusing the silver and/or copper into a subsurface zone adjacent the outer surface; and oxidizing or anodizing the implant after the diffusion step to form an oxidized or anodized layer that contains at least some amount of elemental silver, elemental copper or silver or copper ions or compounds.

Formation Of Therapeutic Scar Using Small Particles
The present invention generally relates to the use of small particles, such as micro particles or nanoparticles, to produce a therapeutic scar such as “trans-mural” scarring or other desired “deep tissue” scarring. In one preferred embodiment, these particles can be delivered to a target location by an implant. More specifically, these particles can be incorporated into the structure of implants or into the coatings on implants. In another preferred embodiment, these small particles can be delivered directly with a catheter by electrophoresis or hydraulic pressure.
METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR MEDICAL IMPLANTS HAVING ANTI-BACTERIAL COATINGS
In one aspect, the disclosure relates to protective, anti-bacterial coatings for medical implants and methods of making the same. Also disclosed herein are methods for improving the anti-bacterial properties of a medical device coated with silicon carbide (SiC) or titanium nitride (TiN). Further disclosed herein are medical devices including an anti-microbial layer prepared by the disclosed methods. This abstract is intended as a scanning tool for purposes of searching in the particular art and is not intended to be limiting of the present disclosure.
DEVICES WITH IMPROVED ANTIBACTERIAL SURFACE
A medical device includes a substrate structure with a surface. The surface is laser treated to define at least one protrusion and/or at least one void extending relative to the surface. A coating having antibacterial, antimicrobial and/or drug eluding properties is applied to the substrate structure such that the coating engages within or along a surface portion of one or more of the protrusions and/or voids.
METHOD OF MANUFACTURING AN IMPLANT AND AN IMPLANT WITH TWO COATINGS
A medical implant for cartilage and/or bone repair at an articulating surface of a joint is provided. The implant includes a contoured implant body and at least one extending post. The implant body has an articulating surface configured to face the articulating part of the joint and a bone contact surface configured to face the bone structure of a joint, where the articulating and bone contact surfaces face mutually opposite directions and the bone contact surface is provided with the extending post. A cartilage contact surface connects the articulating and the bone contact surfaces and is configured to contact the cartilage surrounding the implant body in a joint. The articulating surface has a layer that is formed of titanium nitride (TiN) as the wear-resistant material. The cartilage contact surface has a coating that is formed of a material having chondrointegration properties.
Synergistic antibacterial activity of medium polarity oils in combination with antibacterial agents on bacterial biofilms
The compositions of the present invention comprise at least one medium polarity oil and at least one antibacterial agent, the combination of which produces a synergistic antibacterial effect against bacterial biofilms. Methods are disclosed for the reduction of bacteria in and/or elimination of bacterial biofilms on biological and non-biological surfaces, as well as methods for the treatment of wounds, skin lesions, mucous membrane lesions, and other biological surfaces infected or contaminated with bacterial biofilms.
Medical devices and methods for forming medical devices having a porous structure
Medical devices, such as orthopedic medical implants, and corresponding methods of applying a porous coating to the medical device are disclosed. In some embodiments, a medical device may include a plurality of texture features extending from a base surface, and a porous coating applied into and atop of the plurality of texture features and the base surface. The porous coating may include a plurality of coating structures, wherein a first coating structure group of the plurality of coating structures has a first size, wherein a second coating structure group of the plurality of coating structures has a second size, and wherein the first size is different than the second size.
