Window panel installation system for protection against strong winds

A temporary panel and panel system. The panel system comprises a fabric held in a two-part, snap-together connector system. The connector system is attachable to a window connector system to secure it temporarily until fasteners can be driven into the panel system and the channel of the window frame. The window connector includes a fastener boss that helps to hold the fasteners that hold the panel to the window frame. The fabric of the panel system is made of a geotextile. The marginal edge of the geotextile may be coated with urethane adhesive before being inserted between the two parts of the connector system. Placement of fasteners along the perimeter of the connector system is guided by a centering groove in the connector system that positions the fastener over a fastener boss in the window frame. The panel system, help temporarily in place to the window frame, may then be securely attached by fasteners driven into the connector system.

A mounting system and method for security screens for use with double-hung windows and other windows having an integral screen track is disclosed. The mounting system and method according to the present invention reduces materials cost for manufacture of security screens while improving aesthetics of the installation, and permits installation of security screens either at the construction site or during window manufacture, while preserving the window manufacturer's warranty.

Reduced visibility window/door screen including a reduced frame profile and method of making same

A reduced visibility window/door screen includes a particularly formed narrow profile frame and mesh applied to the frame. The frame is formed from a single elongated member that is bent to form four corners and four corresponding sides, with joining of the adjacent first and second ends. A high-strength adhesive bonds the mesh to the frame, which is pinch rolled thereon for exceptional pull-out strength. Another embodiment includes a leaf spring movably secured to the frame, to bias and center the screen within the master frame. Another embodiment further includes a plunger pin slidably disposed in the frame with one end fixedly secured to the leaf spring, and handle movably connected to the other end of the plunger pin. The handle member being movable between first and second positions to respectively actuate the leaf spring between an undeformed condition, and a deformed, flattened condition permitting installation/removal of the screen.

A screen enclosure frame can include a post rail having a post rail body with front, rear, right, and left sides defining a post rail cavity, a first flange extending from and perpendicularly to the right side and having a first spline groove, a second flange extending from and perpendicularly to the left side and having a second spline groove. Optionally, a frame can further include a rear bracket for securing the post rail to a floor, and optionally, can further include at least one side bracket for further securing the post rail to a floor. Also optionally, a frame can further include a track rail having a track rail body with proximate, distal, and upper sides, an upper flange extending perpendicularly from the upper side and having an upper spline groove, and a lower flange extending perpendicularly from the upper side. The upper and lower flanges can be coplanar.

Roll-up screen panel

A screen panel is provided. The screen panel can have a screen frame and a screen mesh positioned over the frame. The screen mesh can be attached to the frame with hooks that can be selectively insertable and removable from the frame. The screen mesh can be attached to a portion of the frame and rolled around itself for shipping, and unrolled and attached to the remainder of the frame for use.

Systems and methods for receiving a screen and securing the screen relative to a frame are described. A device embodiment includes, but is not limited to, an adapter body defining a channel configured to receive a rigid screen support supporting a screen, and an extension offset from the channel, the extension configured to be inserted into a groove of a frame for an opening to hold the screen relative to the opening when the channel receives the rigid screen support.

Hidden fastener window screen installation system

A hidden fastener screen installation system includes a plurality of screen frame extrusions cooperating to form an opening across which a screen is positioned. Each screen frame extrusion includes a mounting surface and a singular mounting rib extending outwardly from the mounting surface. The mounting surface is configured to receive a plurality of mechanical fasteners to retain the screen frame extrusion to a portion of a building structure. A trim mold includes a channel configured to closely receive and retain the mounting rib. The screen is received in the channel and is retained by cooperation between the trim mold and the mounting rib. A portion of the trim mold extends over the fasteners and fully covers the fasteners such that the fasteners are completely hidden upon installation of the trim mold on the screen frame.

A retractable dual screen system provides auxiliary environmental protection for garage door openings. An upper housing is mounted on an exterior of a garage door, including two rollers and is accessible for maintenance or repair by a removable cover. A first roller is a vinyl insect screening, and a second roller contains polyolefin material to provide an additional layer of insulation to help reduce heat loss and gain through the garage door. The second roller also provides a vapor barrier to help protect the garage door against high winds. A dual track system selectively allows both rollers to be independently deployed over the garage door opening.
