A screen system for use with a sliding sash of a window to screen an opening as the sliding sash is opened includes a longitudinally extending tube and a spring extending through the interior channel of the tube. The system uses cartridge end caps for restraining the longitudinally extending tube in position within a cartridge housing. A mesh screen includes a leading edge, a trailing edge and opposed side edges. The mesh screen is of sufficient length and width to freely span and substantially cover the window opening when uncoiled and is wrapped around the longitudinally extending tube. The trailing edge of the mesh screen is secured to the longitudinally extending tube and the leading edge is attached to the rail of a window sash. The mesh screen can be unwound from the longitudinally extending tube as the sliding sash is opened, and wound back onto the tube as the sliding sash is closing.

Roll-up dual curtain closure system
10927598 · 2021-02-23 · ·

A dual curtain closure system for covering a portal wherein each curtain has a length greater than the length of the lateral margins of the portal, a first end fixedly attached across the portal at an upper end thereof, and a second end folded back on itself to define an upwardly opening pocket. An elongated rod is supported within each pocket. A first spindle winds and unwinds the first curtain and a second spindle winds and unwinds the second curtain. A drive motor is operable to simultaneously rotate the first and second spindles such that the upwardly opening pockets of the curtains are concomitantly raised or lowered. A predetermined distance between the rods is maintained as the pockets are raised or lowered, which facilitates sealing of the curtains to the lateral margins of the portal as the curtains are lowered.

A privacy partition assembly for a cabin environment including a housing, an extension mechanism, and a partition. The extension mechanism has a retracted condition and an extended condition. A leading link moves away from the housing in a first direction when the extension mechanism transitions to the extended condition. The partition has a leading edge engaged with the leading link such that, when the extension mechanism transitions, the leading edge of the partition moves away from the housing. The extension mechanism includes a jointed first arm attached to a first end of the leading link, and a jointed second arm attached to a second end of the leading link. The jointed first and second arms extend when the extension mechanism transitions from the retracted condition to the extended condition thereby moving the leading link away from the housing. A roller maintains the partition in a taut condition.

LIGHT-REDIRECTING WINDOW COVERING
20200190901 · 2020-06-18 ·

A window covering for natural illumination of building interiors by redirecting the incident daylight at angles that promote its deeper penetration into the interior space. The window covering comprises an optically transmissive, flexible polymeric sheet having a layered structure with a light diffusing output surface and a number of total internal reflection surfaces incorporated into its material. The total internal reflection surfaces are dimensioned such that the multi-layer sheet diffusely redirect at least a portion of light towards a direction which is generally not coincident with the incidence direction.
