Fall arrester

A fall arrester used by utility linemen, communications and telecommunication workers that comprises a body defined by a pair of spaced apart frame members bridged by a floor, and a cam pivotally mounted to the body and sandwiched between the frame members. The cam includes teeth formed on its cam end and an eye formed at the end of the lever end. A carabiner or other connector is connected to the device through the eye and can be attached to the climber's full body harness. A rope passes between the frame members and between the cam and floor of the body.

The cavity has an anulus diameter, wherein the anulus diameter is a greatest internal diameter of the cavity. The anulus diameter is greater than the body diameter and less than the outer diameter and the link is configured to link the first end cap to the second end cap.

A fall arrest system is provided that can be mounted to a ladder or another climbable structure. The fall arrest system includes a cable that extends from an upper member of the fall arrest system to a lower member of the fall arrest system. To couple the cable to the upper member and the lower member, an upper cable supporting assembly and a lower cable supporting assembly are provided. The upper cable supporting assembly may be visible to the ambient environment, and the lower cable supporting assembly may be partially surrounded by a casing with an opening. Thus, the upper cable supporting assembly and the lower cable supporting assembly may be visually inspected without removing housing components. Moreover, the lower cable supporting assembly may include an attenuator for preferably maintaining a desired tension in the cable.
