Regulating Device and a Method of Using Same in a Borehole
A regulating device is for use in a drill string between a drilling machine and a drill bit. The regulating device has a tubular female portion which at least partly encloses a tubular male portion; a helical coupling between the female portion and the male portion to allow a telescoping movement of the regulating device in both directions between a fully extended position and a fully retracted position, the movement of the regulating device occurring when there is a difference in rotational speed between the female portion and the male portion; a first biasing device which is arranged to exert a driving force to drive the regulating device towards its extended position; and a second biasing device.

The present invention relates to a downhole wireline tool for performing a machining operation, such as milling, in a well having a top, the downhole wireline tool having a longitudinal axis, a first end configured to be connected to a wireline and a second end forming a front of the tool facing away from the wireline along the longitudinal axis, the downhole wireline tool comprising a tool housing, a holding section having projectable parts configured to prevent a part of the downhole wireline tool from moving in a direction towards the top, a machining tool arranged in the front of the tool, and a rotation unit for rotating the machining tool, wherein the downhole wireline tool further comprises an oscillation device having a rotational stationary part being connected with the rotation unit and a rotational part being connected to the machining tool, the oscillation device being configured to provide an oscillating movement of the machining tool by oscillating the rotational part in relation to the rotational stationary part.

A downhole motor (107) which comprises a stator housing (108), a rotor assembly (106) rotatable relative to said stator housing, and an arrangement for enabling, in use, a drill bit connected to the rotor assembly of said downhole motor to be rotated by rotating a drill string connected to said stator housing, wherein said arrangement comprises a unidirectional clutch (117) disposed between said rotor assembly and said stator housing and having at least one pawl which can be displaced between an inoperative position adjacent said stator housing and an operative position in which rotation of said stator housing by said drill string in one sense is transmitted to said rotor assembly via said at least one pawl, means biasing said at least one pawl towards said operative position, means retaining said at least one pawl in its inoperative position, and means which, when sufficient pulling force is applied to said drill string, will cause said means retaining said at least one pawl to release said at least one pawl and enable said at least one pawl to move into its operative position.

A downhole motor (107) which comprises a stator housing (108), a rotor assembly (106) rotatable relative to said stator housing, and an arrangement for enabling, in use, a drill bit connected to the rotor assembly of said downhole motor to be rotated by rotating a drill string connected to said stator housing, wherein said arrangement comprises a unidirectional clutch (117) disposed between said rotor assembly and said stator housing and having at least one pawl which can be displaced between an inoperative position adjacent said stator housing and an operative position in which rotation of said stator housing by said drill string in one sense is transmitted to said rotor assembly via said at least one pawl, means biasing said at least one pawl towards said operative position, means retaining said at least one pawl in its inoperative position, and means which, when sufficient pulling force is applied to said drill string, will cause said means retaining said at least one pawl to release said at least one pawl and enable said at least one pawl to move into its operative position.
Percussion device
A percussion device including an input side and an output side, the input side is configured to be rotationally driven and the output side is rotationally driven by the input side via a drive transmitter/drive transmitter pathway combination, where the percussion device includes a percussion impactor, an impactor shaft and a percussion anvil; in use, where the output side has restricted, or no, ability to rotate, the drive transmitter/drive transmitter pathway combination increases the distance between the percussion impactor and the percussion anvil until the drive transmitter/drive transmitter pathway combination releases the percussion impactor, where the percussion impactor includes at least one impactor impact tooth and the percussion anvil includes at least one anvil impact tooth, wherein each impact tooth includes an angled impact surface, such that complementary impact surfaces are configured to pass a percussive and/or rotational impulse from the percussion impactor to the percussion anvil.

A ball transfer mechanism for a harmonic drive and linear piston motor is disclosed. The ball transfer mechanism includes a spherical ball and a cylindrical seat portion. The seat portion defines a hemispherical shaped recess with a contour for receiving the ball. The ball transfer mechanism is in an exterior wall of a housing for converting rotary motion to linear motion, driving a linear piston motor. The harmonic drive drives a rotor of the linear piston motor. The harmonic drive includes a hollow cylindrical coupler portion engaging a rotor portion for transferring torque to the rotor portion. Transfer mechanisms disposed along a housing wall of the linear piston motor engage the coupler portion. The coupler portion includes harmonic cam grooves for receiving spherical balls in the ball transfer mechanism that drives rotational motion in the rotor in response to axially linear movement of the piston assembly.
