Plasticized PVC admixtures with surface modifying macromolecules and articles made therefrom
The present invention relates to polyvinvyl chloride (PVC) admixtures with plasticizers and surface modifying macromolecules. In accordance with embodiments, articles formed from the compositions disclosed herein may reduce leaching of plasticizers.
ANTIMICROBIAL WRAPS FOR MEDICAL IMPLANTS
Biodegradable antimicrobial films are provided that are solid at room temperature and substantially liquefy in situ after implantation into a mammal, such as a human patient. Methods of using the films to cover a medical device, such as a breast implant, prior to insertion into a subject are also provided.
Tissue scaffold and scaffold composition
The invention relates to a scaffold material composition for forming a solid tissue scaffold, the composition comprising a plurality of hollow polymer pellets, each pellet comprising an open hollow extending through the pellet, and wherein the plurality of hollow polymer pellets are capable of interlinking and setting into a solid scaffold. The invention further relates to associated compositions, uses, method of treatment and kits associated with such material.
BONE GRAFT SUBSTITUTE
There is described a bone graft substitute which combines substantially the high mechanical stability of spherical porous granules without the limitation of reduced intergranular space. The structure inside the granules has a high porosity whilst maintaining high stability, so that the granules can be pushed into a defect without risking significant breakage of the granules and, at the same time, the bone cells can grow into the space between the granules. In an exemplary embodiment of the invention, the surface of the granules comprises indentations, when viewed from the exterior of the granules. An indentation increases the porosity within the implanted mass significantly and thus provides more space between the granules for tissue ingrowth. Due to the indentations on the granules, the granules have an irregular shape and thus an increase in the intergranular space is achieved, while mechanical stability is maintained.
TEXTILE PRODUCTS HAVING SELECTIVELY APPLIED SEALANT OR COATING AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE
A substantially fluid impermeable textile graft may be produced by selective application of a substantially water-soluble material or masking agent, and optionally selective removal of excess substantially water-soluble material, followed by the application of a substantially water-insoluble sealant. The inner surface of the graft includes a coating of the substantially water-soluble material thereon. The outer surface includes a coating of the substantially water-insoluble sealant disposed thereon. The tubular wall having the coating of the substantially water-insoluble sealant is, after curing thereof, substantially impermeable to liquid. The substantially water-soluble material is removed from the graft after the application of the substantially water-insoluble sealant.

TEXTILE PRODUCTS HAVING A SEALANT OR COATING
A vascular prosthesis includes a tubular wall disposed between a first open end and an opposed second open end and having an inner surface and an opposed outer surface. The tubular wall includes a textile construction of one or more filaments or yarns, the textile construction by itself being permeable to liquid. The outer surface includes a coating of a water-insoluble elastomeric sealant. The tubular wall having the coating of the water-insoluble elastomeric sealant is, after curing thereof, impermeable to liquid. The inner surface is free of the water-insoluble elastomeric sealant.

A textile graft includes a tubular wall disposed between a first open end and an opposed second open end and having an inner surface and an opposed outer surface. The tubular wall includes a textile construction of one or more filaments or yarns, the textile construction by itself being permeable to liquid. A portion of the inner surface of the tubular wall includes a coating of a substantially water-soluble material thereon. The outer surface includes a coating of a substantially water-insoluble elastomeric sealant disposed thereon. The tubular wall having the coating of the substantially water-insoluble elastomeric sealant is, after curing thereof, substantially impermeable to liquid.
