DRILL BIT

A drill bit including a body having a face and a plurality of blades disposed on the face of the body. Each of the plurality of blades may have a row of cutters disposed thereon, and the rows of cutters may collectively define a cutting profile of the drill bit. At least some of the cutters along the cutting profile may have alternating positive back rake angles. The difference between a majority of back rake angles on adjacent cutters along the cutting profile may be less than 20°.

Rotary Percussive Piloted Rock Drill Bit

A piloted rock drill bit includes an integral body having a pilot drill section, a reaming section and a mounting base section extending along a longitudinal axis. The reaming section includes four wings extending from the longitudinal axis in an “X” pattern. A cutting carbide member is secured to each wing. Waste debris ejection slots extend radially into the reaming section between the wings. The pilot drill section includes a post. A leading carbide member is secured to the post. The leading carbide member includes a pair of sloped surfaces extending forwardly towards each other and intersecting at a leading cutting edge which extends perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The leading cutting edge and sloped surfaces extend along a crescent shaped arc. An air delivery bore extends through the body to discharge openings located between the leading cutting edge and wings which extend radially perpendicular to the leading cutting edge.

Blade cap force modulation system for a drill bit

The force modulation system for a drill bit includes a cutter, a blade cap, a cap retention device, and a first force member. The cutter or cutters fit in the blade cap, and the blade cap fits to the drill bit. The cap retention device exerts a cap retention force in a first direction. The first force member exerts a first force in a second direction. The cutting profile of the force modulation system is now variable in more than one direction so as to avoid excessive forces from more than one direction for each cutter on the blade cap. There can also be a second force member to exert a second force in the first direction for more variability of the cutting profile in the first direction and a third force member to exert a third force in an opposite second direction.

A drill bit is provided. The drill bit includes a bit body and an axle disposed in the bit body. The axle includes a first axle portion extending in a longitudinal direction and a second axle portion extending in the longitudinal direction. A longitudinal end of the first axle portion is continuous with a longitudinal end of the second axle portion. When viewed from the longitudinal direction, the first axle portion and the second axle portion are not coaxial, and an outer perimeter of the first axle portion is located entirely within an outer perimeter of the second axle portion. The drill bit also includes a first cutter disposed on the first axle portion and a second cutter disposed on the second axle portion.

Drill bit with joint function of induced unloading and abrasive jet and drilling method thereof

A drill bit performs pilot rock-breaking using an outer annular drill bit and breaks a central rock pillar using a central drill bit mounted in the middle of the annular drill bit and located inside a drill bit body to induce unloading of a bottom hole stress. A method mixes rock debris produced by rock breaking of the central drill bit as abrasive with the drilling fluid flowing into the entire drill bit as abrasive jet liquid phase to form an abrasive jet. The method includes obtaining an annular borehole by braking, and breaking the rock pillar at the inner side of the annular borehole to induce unloading of the bottom hole stress, mixing the rock debris produced by breaking the rock pillar at the inner side of the annular borehole as abrasive with the drilling fluid entering the drill bit to form an abrasive jet.
