Laser-brazed PCD element
The present disclosure relates to an industrial device, such as a drill bit that may be fabricated by performing a first coupling process that includes activating an attachment material between a first cutter element and a first recess of a bit body, monitoring a temperature associated with the first cutter element by a camera, and adjusting one or more parameters associated with the laser in response to output from the camera. The process may be repeated for a plurality of cutter elements. The disclosure further includes the process and a system to perform the process.
Trimodal Reamer for Use in Drilling Operations
A reamer used in downhole oil well operations, particularly in reaming while drilling applications includes a plurality of helical blades. Each blade extends along a center axis of the reamer body and includes a sequence of a sloping leading edge, a central blade length, and a sloping trailing edge. Each edge slopes away from the central blade length and toward the center axis. A first series of a first type of cutter are positioned along the central blade length; separate pluralities of a second type of cutter are respectively positioned along the leading edge and the sloping trailing edge. A third type of cutter is positioned in a first transition zone located between the leading edge and the central blade length, an additional instance of the third type of cutter is positioned in a second transition zone located between the trailing edge and the central blade length.

Attachment of TSP diamond ring using brazing and mechanical locking
A cutter for a drill bit and method of manufacturing same is disclosed. The cutter has a non-leached polycrystalline diamond (PCD) table bonded to a substrate and a leached PCD table bonded to one or both of the substrate and non-leached PCD table. The leached PCD table may be ring-shaped and acts as the working surface of the cutting element. It may have a jagged inner surface which cooperates with complementary jagged-shaped outer surface of the non-leached PCD table to prevent rotation of the leached PCD table relative to the non-leached PCD table during a cutting operation. A surface of the leached PCD table may be tapered and fit together in a complementary manner with an oppositely tapered surface of the non-leached PCD table so as to mechanically lock the leached PCD table to the non-leached PCD table.
POLYCRYSTALLINE DIAMOND
An embodiment of a PCD insert comprises an embodiment of a PCD element joined to a cemented carbide substrate at an interface. The PCD element has internal diamond surfaces defining interstices between them. The PCD element comprises a masked or passivated region and an unmasked or unpassivated region, the unmasked or unpassivated region defining a boundary with the substrate, the boundary being the interface. At least some of the internal diamond surfaces of the masked or passivated region contact a mask or passivation medium, and some or all of the interstices of the masked or passivated region and of the unmasked or unpassivated region are at least partially filled with an infiltrant material.

METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A POLYCRYSTALLINE SUPERHARD CUTTER UTILIZING LEACHING PASSAGES
A method for manufacturing a cutter includes: boring a passage into a polycrystalline superhard cutting head, the passage extending from a front face of the cutting head toward a side thereof; and introducing acid into the passage, thereby removing at least a portion of a metal from the cutting head.
DRILL BIT
A drill bit including a body having a face, a blade disposed on the face, and a row of cutters disposed on the blade. At least some of the cutters may have alternating positive back rake angles. The difference between a majority of back rake angles on adjacent cutters may be less than 20.

Cutting tables including rhenium-containing structures, and related cutting elements, earth-boring tools, and methods
A cutting table comprises a polycrystalline hard material and at least one rhenium-containing structure within the polycrystalline hard material and comprising greater than or equal to about 10 weight percent rhenium. A cutting element, an earth-boring tool, and method of forming a cutting element are also described.
