SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SUPPORTING THE OPERATION OF SUBSEA INSTALLATIONS FOR 3D RECONSTRUCTION OF FLEXIBLE PIPES DURING A DIRECT VERTICAL CONNECTION OPERATION

This invention provides a system and a method for supporting the operation of subsea installations for 3D reconstruction of flexible pipes (1) during a direct vertical connection operation, comprising the steps of painting the flexible pipe (1) with a specific regular pattern, and performing a 3D reconstruction of the points sampled on the flexible pipe (1) to obtain the radius of curvature of the flexible pipe (1), in which the 3D reconstruction comprises the steps of: capturing images of the flexible pipe (1) during the direct vertical connection operation; sending the captured images to a dedicated computer (4); and processing the captured images, generating information on the radius of curvature, wherein the method initially comprises at least one of the following steps: painting the bend restrictor (6) with a specific regular pattern; painting straps (71) for buoys (7) with a specific regular pattern; and painting straps (71) for the arch bend, in the event of second-end direct vertical connection.

Offshore drilling and a configurable support structure for the same

Without limitation, embodiments of the present invention relates to an offshore wellhead platform (100), the offshore wellhead platform (100) comprising a configurable support structure (200) for supporting upper parts of a plurality of conductors (210) through which one or more well processing tasks can be performed, wherein the configurable support structure (200) further provides a first position (150) and a second position (160) for the conductors (210), and the offshore wellhead platform (100) allows movement of an upper part of a conductor (210) between its first (150) and second position (160). In this way, efficiency when processing a plurality of wells is provided since repositioning of the well center is not needed or needed significantly less. Effectively, the wells are brought to the well center so-to-speak instead of the well center needing to be moved to each well.

Offloading Hydrocarbons from Subsea Fields

A subsea hydrocarbon export system includes a riser tower having a riser column extending from a seabed location to a sub-surface buoy that supports the riser column in an upright orientation. A subsea connector is operable underwater to couple the riser column temporarily to a hose suspended from a surface shuttle tanker vessel for an export operation and to release the hose after the export operation.

Offshore installation

An offshore installation comprising a riser pipe and a bend stiffener. The riser pipe comprises a flexible pipe body having a pipe length and an end fitting and the riser has a longitudinal pipe axis. The bend stiffener comprises a helically shaped body arranged to surround a stiffened length section of the flexible pipe body. The bend stiffener has a root end and a far end, wherein the root end is closer to the end fitting than the far end and the root end is locked at an axial distance to the end fitting, determined along the longitudinal pipe axis.

SYSTEM FOR CONNECTING BETWEEN RISERS OF COMPOSITE MATERIAL AND FLOWLINES, WHICH CAN BE USED WITH A HYBRID RISER, AND METHOD FOR CONSTRUCTING SAME
20210131193 · 2021-05-06 ·

This invention relates to oil and gas exploration and comprises a direct connection system referred to as a Lower Riser Termination Assembly (LRTA), between risers made of composite material and horizontal lines installed on the seabed (flowlines). The system is applicable to a hybrid riser and its construction method allows cost reduction and system assembly/installation time optimization. The LRTA connection system is applicable to both rigid and flexible flowlines without need for any intermediate connection section/equipment between these and the risers.

Another important feature of the presented system is the fact that its construction allows free vertical expansion of the risers along the entire structure.

In addition, while, in the state of the art, the conventional methods require a large assembly and construction area, in the construction method developed for this system, the required area is significantly reduced, approximately 10 times smaller than that required for known construction methods.

Bend Stiffener

The invention concerns a bend stiffener (10, 32) for locally protecting an elongate flexible member (14) from excessive curvature when the elongate flexible member is deployed in water. The bend stiffener comprises an elongate stiffener body (34) which has a root end, a free end, and a passage (36) extending through the stiffener body from the root end to the free end for receiving and embracing the flexible member. A coupling (16) at or toward the root end of the stiffener body serves to mount the stiffener body. The stiffener body is sufficiently flexible to curve somewhat along with the flexible member when the flexible member suffers a bending load and carries a sensor module which is located proximate the free end of the bend stiffener and is configured to sense inclination and/or orientation and/or movement of the free end of the bend stiffener.

Systems and methods for initiating an emergency disconnect sequence

Systems and methods for initiating an emergency disconnect sequence (EDS) are provided. In an aspect, a disconnection system is provided and configured to initiate the EDS, and includes a controller including a processor and a memory operably coupled to the processor. The controller receives, from a set of motion reference units (MRU(s)) operably coupled to a flexible joint, position data generated by the set of motion references units and associated with the joint when the joint is operably coupled to and disposed between a drilling riser and a lower marine riser package (LMRP). The controller determines, based on the position data, an angular offset of the joint. The controller sends, to a subsea control pod disposed at or adjacent to the LMRP, a trigger signal in response to determining that the angular offset exceeds a predetermined threshold, such that the subsea control pod initiates the EDS.
