HYBRID DRILLING AND TRIMMING TOOL AND METHODS
A system includes a drill pipe, a fiber optic housing, a laser housing, a conduit, and a fiber optic cable. The drill pipe extends from a surface location into the wellbore. The fiber optic housing is connected to the drill pipe. The laser housing is connected to the fiber optic housing and houses a laser. The drill bit, the laser housing, the fiber optic housing, and the drill pipe are configured to rotate. The conduit extends through the drill pipe, the fiber optic housing, the laser housing, and the drill bit. The fiber optic cable is housed in the fiber optic housing, is disposed within the conduit, and extends from the surface location to the laser located in the laser housing. The laser emits a laser beam into the wellbore. Rotation of the laser housing rotates the laser beam in a circular plane perpendicular to the wellbore.
Method and device for supplying at least one electrical consumer of a drill pipe with an operating voltage
In a method and device for supplying at least one electrical consumer (10) of a drill pipe with an operating voltage, at least one electrical component (10, 11, 15) on pipe rods (6) of the drill pipe is tested for defects with a test voltage that is smaller than the operating voltage before the operating voltage is applied, and the operating voltage can only be applied when no defects are present.
Means For Accomodating Cables In Tubing Anchoring Tools
A tubing anchoring tool connectable to a tubing string and positionable within a well conduit is provided, for preventing movement of a tubing string. The tool comprises one or more axial grooves formed along the length of an outer surface thereof, for accommodating cables placed therein.
Data and power configuration for electrical submersible well pump
An electrical submersible well pump (ESP) has a motor electrical connector mounted to an exterior of the motor. A motor sensor connects to an interior side of the motor electrical connector. Seal first and second electrical connectors mount to an exterior of a seal/motor adapter. A seal internal wire within the seal section electrically connects interior sides of the seal first and second electrical connectors together. An external motor jumper wire extends alongside the motor between the motor electrical connector and the seal first electrical connector. A pump electrical connector mounts to an exterior of a pump/seal adapter and connects to a pump sensor within the pump. An external seal jumper wire connects between the seal second electrical connector and the pump electrical connector.
Slickline stuffing box shock absorber tool
A slickline stuffing box shock absorber is disclosed. The slickline stuffing box shock absorber includes a first mechanical component adapted to connect to a slickline in a wellbore, an upper rod rigidly coupled to the first mechanical component, a second mechanical component adapted to connect to a rope socket of a tool string in the wellbore, a lower rod rigidly coupled to the second mechanical component, and a spring adapted to absorb shock energy from the tool string so as to prevent breakage of the slickline, where the upper rod is hollow and has a larger inner diameter than an outer diameter of the lower rod to allow sliding movement of the lower rod inside the upper rod, and where the upper rod and the lower rod are elastically coupled to each other by the spring.
TRANSMISSION LINE TENSION ANCHOR FOR DRILL STRING COMPONENTS
An apparatus for retaining a transmission line within a drill string component includes a drill string component comprising a bore having an internal diameter. A slot having a shoulder is formed in the internal surface to receive an electromagnetic transmission line. A tension anchor is configured to be attached to the electromagnetic transmission line. The tension anchor comprises an inner sleeve configured to be crimped onto an outer diameter of the electromagnetic transmission line, and an outer sleeve configured to be coupled with the inner sleeve. The outer sleeve comprises an electrical connector device configured to be electrically coupled with the electromagnetic transmission line. The tension anchor is further configured to be received in the slot in engagement with the shoulder.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR TESTING OF THE DOWNHOLE CONNECTOR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM DURING INSTALLATION
Disclosed are methods and devices for testing downhole connector electrical systems and cable integrity during installation of a permanent completion, including a customized retrievable plug arm assembly connectable to the completion during RIH, the tool mimicking a retrievable ESP, but without motor, and can be employed with or without pressure isolation. Another method employs a slidable starpoint located within the downhole wet mate connector of the completion to provide continuous electrical contact between the phases when no retrievable assembly is in place. When a retrievable assembly is later put in place, the slidable starpoint is moved into a second position that no longer provides electrical contact between the phases. Another method uses fusible links installed between two conductors within the downhole electrical connector system of the completion to provide similar electrical contact between phases, the fusible link configured to melt away once motor current is sent through the conductors.
Cable Connectors for Use Downhole
A cable system for use downhole includes a connector assembly having a body and a bore formed therethrough; a conductor disposed through the bore of the connector assembly; and a first insulation layer disposed around the conductor. An insulator tube is disposed around the conductor and has an end attached to the first insulation layer. The insulator tube may be made of a thermoplastic material. A graphite containing sealing member is disposed in the bore and disposed between the insulator tube and the body of the connector assembly.
HIGH PRESSURE CABLE HEAD CONNECTOR
The present invention relates to a sealing cable connector device for high-pressure applications including a first connector part (1) and a second connector part (5) including an axial channel for allowing a cable (6) to extend, the first connector part having a cylindrical channel with a radially oriented inner surface (1a) and the second connector part being adapted to be introduced into said channel and having a corresponding shape in the radial direction, said second connector part having a radially oriented front end surface (4a), the first and second connector parts including locking means being adapted to applying an axial force and lock the parts together after connecting. At least one spring bevel ring (2) is positioned at the inner surface in said cavity having radial dimensions corresponding to radial dimensions of the cavity between the cable and outer walls of the cavity.
CABLE HEAD FOR ATTACHING A DOWNHOLE TOOL TO A WIRELINE
A cable head for attaching a wireline to a downhole tool includes an upper tubular member and a lower tubular member removably attached by a threaded connection.
