An apparatus for retaining a transmission line within a drill string component is disclosed. In one embodiment, such an apparatus includes a drill string component comprising a bore having an internal diameter. A slot is formed in the internal diameter to receive a transmission line. A first feature within the slot is configured to engage a corresponding second feature on the transmission line and thereby retain an end of the transmission line. A sleeve is inserted into the internal diameter to keep the transmission line within the slot. A corresponding system is also disclosed.

An apparatus for retaining a transmission line within a drill string component includes a drill string component comprising a bore having an internal diameter. A slot is formed in the internal diameter to receive a transmission line. A shoulder within the slot is configured to engage a tension anchor attached to the transmission line. The tension anchor is configured to hold tension in the transmission line. The tension anchor includes a first component that is attached to the transmission line, and a second component that is threaded onto the first component. In certain embodiments, the second component contains a connector configured to enable connection to the transmission line. A corresponding system is also disclosed.

An apparatus for retaining a transmission line within a drill string component includes a drill string component comprising a bore having an internal diameter. A slot is formed in the internal diameter to receive a transmission line. A first feature within the slot is configured to engage a corresponding second feature on the transmission line and thereby retain an end of the transmission line. The first feature comprises a first angled surface configured to contact and engage a corresponding second angled surface of the second feature. The first and second angled surfaces are oriented such to keep the transmission line retained within the slot when tension is placed on the transmission line. A corresponding system is also disclosed.

SUBSEA EQUIPMENT ALIGNMENT DEVICE

Systems and methods for coupling subsea tubular members together are provided. An apparatus may be used to properly orient and/or provide communication between a first subsea tubular member that is being landed on a second subsea tubular member. An apparatus for coupling subsea tubular members may include an alignment sub and a corresponding alignment member. The alignment sub includes: a generally cylindrical body having one or more fluid, electric, or fiber optic lines extending therethrough, one or more couplings coupled to at least one end of the alignment sub, and an orientation profile disposed on a surface of the alignment sub. The alignment member has a profile designed to interface with the orientation profile of the alignment sub. One of the alignment sub and the alignment member remains stationary while the other rotates relative to the stationary structure.

Logging operations in oil and gas applications

A method of performing a logging operation at a wellbore includes providing first and second pipe segments respectively including a first internal electrical cable and a second internal electrical cable, connecting a first end of the first internal electrical cable to a wireline cable of a logging tool to form a drill pipe string, lowering the drill pipe string, including the logging tool and the first pipe segment, into the wellbore, connecting a first end of the second internal electrical cable to a second end of the first internal electrical cable to add the second pipe segment to the drill pipe string, lowering the drill pipe string, including the logging tool, the first pipe segment, and the second pipe segment, into the wellbore, and connecting a second end of the second internal electrical cable to a surface logging unit to couple the surface logging unit to the drill pipe string.

A pipe segment includes an outer pipe including a shaft wall, a first connector disposed at a first end of the shaft wall, and a second connector disposed at a second end of the shaft wall opposite the first end. The pipe segment further includes an electrical cable extending through the shaft wall along a length of the outer pipe between the first and second connectors and an inner pipe positioned within the outer pipe and surrounding the electrical cable, the inner pipe being movable axially with respect to the outer pipe, and the outer pipe being movable rotationally with respect to the inner pipe.

The sensor assembly, in one aspect, includes a flange housing, the flange housing including a mating surface for engaging a wellhead and an opposing surface, an interior cavity extending into the flange housing from the mating surface, and an exterior cavity extending into the flange housing from the opposing surface. The sensor assembly, according to this aspect, further includes a connector in sealed engagement with the flange housing proximate the exterior cavity, and a control line extending into the interior cavity through the connector. The sensor assembly, according to this aspect, further includes a sensor coupled to an exposed end of the control line proximate the interior cavity, the control line slidable within the connector, the exterior cavity and the interior cavity to move the sensor between a retracted position and an expanded position to accommodate different thickness wellheads.

The downhole tool may be operable to connect together a first portion of the tool string and a second portion of the tool string and facilitate relative angular movement between the first portion of the tool string and the second portion of the tool string when the downhole tool is connected within the tool string.

The apparatus 10 including a receiving member 14 having a hollow body with a diverging mouth, a latch member 22 movably mounted on the outside of the receiving member 14 with a latch part 24 extending into the receiving member 14. A mounting member 16 is provided which mounts the cable extending therethrough. The mounting member 16 is selectively locatable in the receiving member 14 with the latch part 24 engaging with a retaining formation in the form of a groove 56 to retain the mounting member 16 in the receiving member 14 and hence retain the cable mounted to the structure.
