Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a tubular connection assembly that maybe quickly connected and with improved capacity for axial loads. The tubular connection assembly may include a box end member having a first groove formed in an inner surface, a pin end member having a second groove formed in an outer surface, and a load transfer assembly comprising two or more segments. When the pin end member is inserted in the box end member and the first groove aligns with the second groove, the load transfer assembly is at least partially disposed in both the first groove and the second groove.

The present disclosure describes various embodiments, as well as features and aspects thereof, of an improved drill bit assembly for a percussion boring system. More specifically, one non-limiting embodiment of an improved drill bit assembly for a percussion boring system comprises a bit and a product engagement member. The bit comprises a slant faced head and at least one exhaust port. The product engagement member comprises a product coupling portion and at least one fluid restriction portion. This improved drill bit assembly is such that, when the product engagement member is detachably engaged with the slant faced head of the bit, a first portion of the fluid stream expelled from the bit is directed substantially forward of the slant faced head and a second portion of the fluid stream is directed substantially rearward from the slant faced head.

System and methodology for forming gravel packs

A technique facilitates formation of a gravel pack. Gravel slurry is delivered downhole through at least one solid walled tube disposed externally to a base pipe positioned in a wellbore. A structure is used to enable connection of base pipe joints while enabling flow of the gravel slurry past the base pipe joint connection and into a corresponding downstream tube or tubes. The gravel slurry is then discharged at a desired location to help form the gravel pack by depositing the gravel and separating the carrier fluid. The separated carrier fluid is returned back through at least one permeable dehydration tube.

System and methodology for forming gravel packs

Misalignment-tolerant wellsite connection assembly, system, and method

A connection assembly, system and method for connecting components of a wellsite are provided. The wellsite has a wellbore extending into a subsurface formation, the connection assembly includes a female connector having a cavity extending therein, a floating cartridge having, and a male connector. The female connector or floating cartridge is operatively connectable to a first of the components. The floating cartridge is operatively connectable to the female connector and laterally movable therein. The male connector is receivable in the cavity and is operatively connectable to the second of the components and the floating cartridge such that the male connector and the female connector are movably positionable relative to each other by the floating cartridge whereby a misalignment between the wellsite components is tolerated. The male connector may have a joint pivotally connectable to the floating cartridge.

Friction welded heavy weight drill pipes

A heavy weight drill pipe for use in a downhole tool. The heavy weight drill pipe may include a tool joint made of a first steel alloy selected from the group consisting of AISI 4135, AISI 4137, AISI 4140, AISI 4142, AISI 4145, and AISI 4147. The tool joint may have as radial thickness between about 3.0 cm and about 5.7 cm. The heavy weight drill pipe may also include a pipe made of a second steel alloy selected from the group consisting of AISI 4135, AISI 4137, AISI 4140, AISI 4142, AISI 4145, and AISI 4147. The pipe may have a radial thickness between about 1.6 cm and about 3.3 cm. A weld region may be formed between the tool joint and the pipe. The weld region may be formed by friction welding the tool joint to the pipe.

A heavy weight drill pipe for use in a downhole tool. The heavy weight drill pipe may include a tool joint made of a first steel alloy selected from the group consisting of AISI 4135, AISI 4137, AISI 4140, AISI 4142, AISI 4145, and AISI 4147. The tool joint may have as radial thickness between about 3.0 cm and about 5.7 cm. The heavy weight drill pipe may also include a pipe made of a second steel alloy selected from the group consisting of AISI 4135, AISI 4137, AISI 4140, AISI 4142, AISI 4145, and AISI 4147. The pipe may have a radial thickness between about 1.6 cm and about 3.3 cm. A weld region may be formed between the tool joint and the pipe. The weld region may be formed by friction welding the tool joint to the pipe.

DRILL STRING ROD WITH GUIDANCE SHOULDER

A drill string rod and a drill string assembly includes a drill rod and a drill bit. The rod includes a threaded male end and a female end. An axially extending shoulder is provided at the male end and has an axial length greater than an outside diameter of the shoulder to provide a shoulder driven rod exhibiting enhanced guidance to achieve straighter holes and better collaring.

Wrap-around stop collar and method of forming

A stop collar for a tubular and method for installing a stop collar on a tubular. The stop collar includes a flexible member extending circumferentially around the tubular more than once. A tension force on the flexible member causes the flexible member to apply a radially-inward gripping force on the tubular. The stop collar may also include a shield disposed around at least a portion of the flexible member, to protect the flexible member in a downhole environment. The stop collar may also or instead include an adhesive disposed radially between the flexible member and the tubular.

Wrap-around stop collar and method of forming

A stop collar for a tubular and method for installing a stop collar on a tubular. The stop collar includes a flexible member extending circumferentially around the tubular more than once. A tension force on the flexible member causes the flexible member to apply a radially-inward gripping force on the tubular. The stop collar may also include a shield disposed around at least a portion of the flexible member, to protect the flexible member in a downhole environment. The stop collar may also or instead include an adhesive disposed radially between the flexible member and the tubular.
