Static annular sealing systems and integrated managed pressure drilling riser joints for harsh environments
A harsh environment integrated MPD riser joint includes a dynamic annular sealing system, a static annular sealing system disposed directly below the dynamic annular sealing system, and a flow spool, or equivalent thereof, disposed directly below the static annular sealing system. The dynamic annular sealing system may be a conventional ACD-type, RCD-type, or other conventional annular sealing system. The static annular sealing system may include one or more annular packer systems and one or more connection sealing elements that engage drill pipe during connection or non-rotation operations only. The dynamic annular sealing system may maintain annular pressure during drilling operations while the static annular sealing system is disengaged. The static annular sealing system may maintain annular pressure during connection operations while the dynamic annular sealing system is disengaged. Advantageously, the static annular sealing system is capable of withstanding jarring heaving action encountered in harsh environments.
Deepwater riser intervention system
The present invention discloses apparatus and methods for a lightweight subsea intervention package. In one embodiment, the system comprises a lower riser package for controlling the subsea well which utilizes a plurality of hydraulically activated well barriers. An emergency disconnect package is secured to the lower riser package and is electrically connected to the lower riser package. The emergency disconnect package is operable to seal the bottom of a riser and minimize environmental leakage of fluid from the riser. The lower riser package and emergency disconnect package each contain a closed loop system of fluid operable to control the system without fluid from the surface. Each is operable to control the well barriers. Either an electrical connection or an acoustic control system may be utilized to control the system. The lower riser package can be operated from the surface when the emergency disconnect package has been disconnected.
Double-shouldered connection for drilling tubulars with large inside diameter
A threaded connection for drilling tubulars includes a tubular box section having a sidewall. The box section has a tapered box portion of an inner surface of the sidewall between a first end and a second end. The tapered box portion has internal threads, a first torque shoulder on a first side of the tapered box portion, and a second shoulder on a second side of the tapered box portion. A threaded collar having internal collar threads is positioned between the second end and the second shoulder. A threaded insert having a tubular body with an inner surface and an outer surface having external insert threads is configured for threadably connecting to the internal collar threads. A direction of the internal threads of the tapered box portion is opposite to a direction of the internal collar threads and the external insert threads.
Downhole tool with compliant metal-to-metal seal
A downhole tool including an insertion member arranged to insert into and form an annular seal with a receiving member using an annular seal assembly. The seal assembly includes a compliant metal spring and a separate metal cover overlapping at least a portion of an outside of the spring, wherein the cover and spring extend radially outward from the downhole tool so as to be compressed when the insertion member is inserted within the receiving member to form an annular metal-to-metal seal between the insertion member and the receiving member. A method of coupling the downhole tool and the receiving member in a well includes inserting the insertion member of the downhole tool into the receiving member and energizing and forming an annular metal-to-metal seal by compressing the seal assembly between the insertion member and the receiving member when inserting the insertion member into the receiving member.

Methods and systems for casing disconnect system with liner top testing
Interventionless testing casing within a wellbore to determine a location where the casing is leaking. Testing systems include a casing disconnect tool to receive an object, such as a ball, allowing for pressurizing to test a backside between new casing associated with the disconnect tool and older casing associated with a cased hole or open hole.

Offshore platform slot recovery tool system
An offshore platform slot recovery tool system and method. Here, the slot recovery tool system can include a body, wherein the body comprises a plurality of supports extending therefrom, wherein the plurality of supports are configured to engage an interior surface of a conductor pipe, and an articulating arm extending from the body, wherein the articulating arm is configured in either a stowed configuration or a deployed configuration. In addition, the articulating arm is further configured to couple to a seafloor oil well casing, such that the conductor pipe is moved in a direction away from the seafloor oil well casing.
CURVILINEAR SEALING SYSTEM
A sealing system connecting first and second tubular members includes a first curvilinear sealing surface on the first tubular member and a second curvilinear sealing surface on the second tubular member. Both the first and second curvilinear sealing surfaces are disposed between two sets of threading on the respective first and second tubular members. When the first and second tubular members are in a connected configuration, the first and second curvilinear sealing surfaces contact and interfere to form an annular curvilinear center seal. A relief pocket may be disposed adjacent to the first and/or second curvilinear sealing surfaces to contain excess lubricant between the first and second tubular members.
