20220018195 · 2022-01-20 ·

A sucker rod guide for attachment to a sucker rod or the like has a body comprising a circumferential edge at each end, wherein one or both of the circumferential edges is non-linear. The shape of the non-linear circumferential edge can be symmetrically varying, asymmetrically varying, sinusoidal, castellated or stepped, undulating or randomly or pseudo-randomly profiled, to produce a turbulence stabilization effect. At least a portion of the body of the sucker rod guide, and in particular, a region around one or both of the non-linear circumferential edges comprises a textured surface or a surface structure.

Thread protector for use with sucker rods and oil tools
11136832 · 2021-10-05 ·

A thread protector for use on a sucker rod or a drill pipe has a collet with a plurality of collet segments in which each of the plurality of collet segments has a protrusion adjacent an end thereof, and a sleeve overlying the collet and movable between a first position and a second position. The second position compresses the plurality of collet segments such that the protrusion engages with the thread relief of the sucker rod or drill pipe. This retains the sleeve and the plurality of collet segments over the threaded end of the pipe so as to protect the threaded end of the pipe. The sleeve is movable to the first position such that the protrusions of the plurality of collet segments release from the thread relief so as to allow the thread protector to be removed from the threaded end of the pipe.

CORROSION TESTING DEVICE

A centralising assembly for a downhole device in the mining or oil well field, a method of manufacture therefor and to a coupling device including a centralising device.

Roller coupling apparatus and method therefor
11028654 · 2021-06-08 ·

A roller coupling apparatus for securing rods and other threaded components together in a pumping system. The roller coupling apparatus can include a body with a plurality of radially-positioned wheels rotatably coupled to the body. The arrangement of the wheels can uniformly spread the rod load within the interior diameter of the tubing. The body can include flat outer surfaces to facilitate increased fluid flow capacity around the apparatus. In operation, the wheels contact and roll along the interior diameter of the tubing, preventing surface-to-surface wear of the coupling body exterior and tubing interior, thereby prolonging coupling and tubing life. In one embodiment, the wheels can include wear grooves that can indicate wear areas in the wellbore. In one embodiment, the body can include grooves to permit retrieval of the apparatus when needed. Multiple apparatuses can be utilized to form rod strings of various lengths.

Automated end fitting installation system and method

Sucker rods include end fittings having an outer wedge portion proximate to an open end, an inner wedge portion proximate to a closed end, and an intermediate wedge portion between the outer and inner wedges. Each wedge includes a leading edge, a trailing edge, and an angle between the leading and trailing edges. The triangular configuration, length of the leading edge, the length of the trailing edge, and size of the angle in each wedge portion cause distribution of force, such that compressive forces distributed to the rod proximate the closed end exceed compressive forces distributed to the rod proximate the open end. An automated installation procedure installs the end fitting through the use of multiple chucks, positioned by servo motors along a fitting table.

Rod centralizer and solids control assembly
10988990 · 2021-04-27 ·

A rod centralizer and solids control assembly can be mounted on a rod string. The assembly allows well fluid containing high solids to pass through the pump while eliminating the solids from being swept back into the pump barrel or accumulating in the tubing. The assembly can include a body portion coupled to a bristle positioned helically around the body portion. The bristle can be coupled to a piston, allowing the bristle to extend during upward fluid movement and retract when rod rotation stops. The bristle can trap solids, leaving the solids higher and away from a pump intake. This can allow the solids to be lifted out of the pump, preventing solids from collecting on a bottom portion of the pump or tubing. The assembly can include centralizer components that center the rod, preventing it from rubbing against the tubing. Multiple assemblies can be incorporated into the rod string.
