Wellbore drilling with a trolley and a top drive device

A method for removal of a top drive device in a wellbore drilling installation, e.g. for servicing and/or exchanging a top drive device. The frame of the trolley and the top drive device are provided with cooperating vertical guide members so that the top drive device is vertically displaceable and guided relative to the frame. The top drive device has an operative position above the rotatable head clamp assembly carrier, which is releasably connected to first and second vertical frame members. In order to service and/or exchange of the top drive device, the method includes releasing the rotatable head clamp assembly carrier from the first and second frame members, removing the rotatable head clamp assembly carrier, lowering the top drive device relative to the frame of the trolley until the cooperating vertical guide members thereof disengage, moving the lowered and disengaged top drive device to a service and/or storage location remote from the firing line.

PIPE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR NEGATIVE ANGLE DRILLING

A pipe handling system for a platform based drill includes a drilling platform with a frame structure having a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and first and second opposite sides. A mast is supported on a pivotal connection to the platform permitting the mast to be pivotally adjusted to a negative drilling angle whereby an upper portion of the mast leans in a first direction extending toward the first end of the frame structure and away from the second end of the frame structure. The mast includes a length direction and has an open cross-section with a concave side facing in the first direction and a convex side facing in a second direction opposite to the first direction. A pipe handling unit mounted to the concave side of the mast is configured to support a drill pipe within the mast when the mast is pivotally adjusted to the negative drilling angle.

20240218752 · 2024-07-04 ·

An apparatus for changing a drilling tool for a drilling rig is described, where the drilling rig comprises a drill tower supporting a drill pipe. The apparatus for changing a drilling tool has a drilling tool changer assembly moveable between a storage position and an exchange position, and the drilling tool changer assembly supports a rotatable carousel assembly. The rotatable carousel assembly has a plurality of bit adaptors for holding drilling tools and is selectively rotatable to bring a selected drilling tool into coaxial alignment with the drill pipe when the drilling tool changer assembly supporting the rotatable carousel assembly is moved into the exchange position. The apparatus includes mechanisms for aligning the selected drilling tool within a bit adaptor holding the selected drilling tool. The apparatus further includes mechanisms for aligning the drill pipe or a hammer with the selected drilling tool.

Drill rod changer, rock drilling unit and method of changing drill rods

The disclosure relates to a changing device, rock drilling unit and a method of changing drill rods in rock drilling. The changing device includes a first drill rod station for receiving a second drill rod and a second drill rod station for receiving a third drill rod. The second drill rod station may be moved to the first drill rod station and the first drill rod station may be moved to drilling axis by moving the whole changing device in a transverse direction relative to a feed beam.

Pipe deployment trailer

A trailer is provided having a trailer base and a trailer bed mounted to the trailer base. The trailer includes at least one actuator coupled to the trailer bed and the trailer base that raises and lowers the trailer bed. When the at least one actuator is extended, the trailer bed is raised to a vertical orientation. When the at least one actuator is retracted, the trailer bed is in the horizontal orientation. The trailer includes a lifting head protruding outwardly from the trailer bed. The position of the lifting head is adjustable along a longitudinal axis of the trailer bed.

whereinwith the tubular gripping member connected to the motion arm of the racker assembliesthe tubular racking device is adapted to grip and retain a drilling tubular by the tubular racker assemblies, and wherein the tubular racking device is adapted to place a tubular in and remove a tubular from the drilling tubulars storage rack,
and wherein the tubular racking device has a reach at least allowing to transfer a tubular gripped by said first and second tubular racker assemblies between the drilling tubulars storage rack and a position of the tubular aligned with the firing line above the well center so as to allow for building and disassembly of a tubulars string,
wherein the system further comprises one or more well center tools, each adapted for operation above the well center of the drill floor,
wherein the motion arm of the lower first tubular racker assembly is provided with a connector, and the at least one well center tool is provided with a complementary connector, and
whereinwith the at least one well center tool connected to the motion arm of the lower tubular racker assemblythe well center tool is operable above the drill floor.

Sensor for a fingerboard latch assembly

A sensor assembly is provided for a fingerboard latch assembly that comprises: a latch bracket; bolts for mounting the latch bracket to a fingerboard; a latch; and a bracket pin rotatably supporting the latch on the latch bracket to allow rotation of the latch between an open position and a closed position. The sensor assembly has a mounting arrangement that mounts to the bolts, holding a closed-position proximity sensor probe facing downwardly for sensing proximity of a crank portion of the latch and/or the piston head in the closed position, and also holding an open-position proximity sensor probe facing forwardly for sensing proximity of an arm of the latch in the open position.
