Tubular rotation detection system and method
A system for use in a mineral extraction system includes a spinner assembly having a motor configured to drive rotation of a roller shaft. The spinner assembly also includes a roller non-rotatably coupled to the roller shaft and configured to contact a first tubular structure, and rotation of the roller is configured to cause rotation of the first tubular structure until the first tubular structure is spun into a second tubular structure. The spinner assembly further includes a detection wheel coupled to the roller shaft and configured to contact the first tubular structure, and the detection wheel is configured to rotate with the first tubular structure and to rotate independently of the roller. The spinner assembly further includes a sensor configured to detect rotation of the detection wheel.
TORQUE WRENCH SYSTEM HAVING MULTIPLE TORQUE STATIONS
An improved multi-bolt and nut torque wrench for installing and removing bolts or nuts from flanged joints or the like which includes a plurality of torque stations having a plurality of high torque wrenches for engaging the heads of the bolts or nuts during a high torque phase of removal or installation; a plurality of low-torque motors operatively engaged with the wrenches for rotating the bolts or nuts during the low torque phase of removal or installation; a source of hydraulic fluid for driving the low-torque motors during the low-torque phase, and driving the high-torque wrenches during the high torque phase; and a mechanism for switching between the two phases depending on the torque needed.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TUBULAR ELEMENT HANDLING
A system and method for transferring tubular elements may include a first structure having a first horizontal platform attached to the first structure on a bottom side and a monorail attached to the first structure on a top side, a second structure having a second horizontal platform attached to the second structure. The first structure and the second structure may be located proximate to each other, while the monorail can extend from the first structure to the second structure. The monorail can have a motion controlled assembly to move a tubular element or assembly of tubular elements.
Safe drill floor access
Systems and methods for safe drill floor access. An example method includes commencing operation of a processing device to operate a system for maintaining safety of a human worker in a restricted area of a drill floor during drilling operations. The processing device may receive a presence detection signal and output a first stop control command to the equipment to cause the equipment to stop operating. The processing device may receive an entry request signal, output an entry request indicator via an output device to a human driller within a drill rig control center, receive an entry grant input from the human driller granting entry to the human worker to enter the restricted area, and output a second stop control command to the equipment located in the restricted area to cause the equipment to stop operating in response to the received entry grant input.
Tubular string make-up methods utilizing image processing
A method of making-up tubular string components can include inputting to an image processor image data output from at least one camera, the image processor in response detecting positions of a tubular and a mark on another tubular, threading the tubulars with each other while inputting position data from the image processor to a controller, and the controller terminating the threading in response to the position of the mark relative to the position of the first tubular being within a predetermined range. Another method of making-up tubular string components can include, in response to inputting image data to an image processor, the image processor detecting longitudinal positions of two tubulars, threading the tubulars with each other, and a controller terminating the threading in response to the longitudinal position of one tubular relative to the longitudinal position of the other tubular being within a predetermined range.
TUBULAR MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
A drilling system includes a horizontal tubular handling and transfer assembly configured to receive a tubular component, a first sensor array disposed at a first axial location on the horizontal tubular handling and transfer assembly, and a second sensor array disposed at a second axial location on the horizontal tubular handling and transfer assembly. The drilling system also includes processing circuitry configured to determine a length dimension of the tubular component based on first data feedback from the first sensor array, second data feedback from the second sensor array, or both. The processing circuitry is also configured to determine a diameter dimension of the tubular component based on the first data feedback, the second data feedback, or both.
Method, device and system of vibration reduction control on installation of deepwater drilling riser
The present application provides a method, a device, and a system of vibration reduction control on the installation of a deepwater drilling riser. The method includes: determining a lateral vibration displacement of each position of the riser at different times in an installation process according to a mechanical model of the deepwater drilling riser in the installation process, determining a stress generated by a lateral vibration of the riser in the installation process, determining a vibration reduction control speed applied to a bottom of the riser in the installation process according to the stress and the lateral vibration displacement of each position of the riser at different times in the installation process, and performing a vibration reduction control on the bottom of the riser based on the vibration reduction control speed.
Drilling rig systems and methods
A drilling rig system includes a drilling rig having a floor which is generally planar, and a utility vehicle having a base, a drive apparatus, and a ground engaging motive apparatus upon which the base is supported on the floor. The drive apparatus drives the ground engaging motive apparatus to move the utility vehicle across the floor. The ground engaging motive apparatus is drivable so as to change a direction of travel of the utility vehicle at any point on the floor.
TORQUE RING SELECTION
A method for making up a tool joint in a casing string that can include operations of installing a first casing collar on a first end of a first casing segment, determining a first selection distance that is measured between a shoulder of the first end of the first casing segment and a shoulder of the first casing collar, and selecting a first torque ring based on the first selection distance.
