Foam and composition for foam
The present invention provides a foam having a surface which solates or gelates after absorption of water and appropriately absorbs the water. The foam is prepared by a foam reaction of a mixture comprising at least one polyol, a compound having at least one isocyanate group, and a hydrophilic polymer.
A LAYERED FILM
Disclosed is a layered barrier film having a first product component and a second detachable carrier component. The first product component includes a layer of material selected from a group including polyethylenes, polyethylene copolymers, polypropylene copolymers, thermoplastic polyurethanes, thermoplastic polyester elastomers, thermoplastic polyamide elastomers, thermoplastic elastomer compounds, and/or blends thereof, and a second layer made from at least partially inorganic material. The first product component has high barrier properties and is very soft. The second detachable carrier component is a layer of material selected from a group including polyethylenes, polypropylenes, polyesters, polyamides, and/or blends thereof.
ADHESIVE FOR MOIST TISSUE AND PERISTOMAL DEVICE MADE USING THE SAME
An adhesive for moist tissue is formulated including a silicone elastomer, a crosslinked polyacrylic acid polymer and a sodium polyacrylate based superabsorbent polymer. The adhesive adheres well to moist tissue, such as a mucosal skin surface. An ostomy skin barrier including a stoma seal made using the adhesive is also disclosed.
OSTOMY BAG
The invention provides an ostomy bag assembly comprising outer (2) and inner (4) bags secured to one side of an adhesive flange (6); the adhesive flange (6) having means defining an orifice to enable bodily waste from a stomal opening to be received by the inner bag; wherein the adhesive flange is of laminar construction and comprises, in sequence, from a body-contacting surface outwards: (a) a bioadhesive layer (10) for securing the flange to a body surface of a patient about the stomal opening; (b) a first polymeric support layer (8) attached to the bioadhesive layer (a); (c) a heat sealable layer (16) having a heat sealable adhesive surface which releasably bonds the heat sealable layer to the first polymeric support surface; (d) a second polymeric support layer (14) bonded to the heat sealable layer; (e) a weldable polymeric layer (18) to which the inner and outer bags are attached, the weldable polymeric layer being bonded to the second polymeric support layer;
the adhesive flange having an annular channel (20) which surrounds the means defining the orifice and extends through layers (c), (d) and (e) so as to form radially inner (22) and outer (24) attachment zones separated by the annular channel (20), the inner bag (4) being attached to the radially inner attachment zone (22) and outer bag (2) being attached to the radially outer attachment zone (24);
and wherein the inner and outer bags (4),(2), together with attached portions of layers (c), (d) and (e) can each be peeled away from the first polymeric support layer (b).
Also provided by the invention are adhesive flange blanks from which the ostomy bag assemblies can be manufactured, as well as methods for the manufacture of the ostomy bag assemblies and the adhesive flange blanks.

In certain embodiments, the deodorizing composition is contained loaded in a hydrogel or hydrophilic polyurethane. In further embodiments, the loaded hydrogel or hydrophilic polyurethane is placed in an ostomy device.
MULTI-LAYER FILM FOR OSTOMY APPLIANCES
A multilayer film for an ostomy pouch includes a barrier layer that is substantially impermeable to malodor causing compounds and arranged between outer layers. Each of the outer layers is formed from a polymeric mixture comprising about 90 wt. % to about 99 wt. % of a polar polymer and about 1 wt. % to about 10 wt. % of a slip agent and/or an anti-block agent, wherein the polymeric mixture is free of a non-polar polymer.
