A self cleaning leak containment apparatus for an oil drilling rig includes nozzles to direct jets of cleaning fluid into the apparatus. The self cleaning leak containment apparatus can include a tray with nozzles fed by pumps that also serve to drain the tray. A sheet-form around the tray and draining into the tray can also have nozzles directed into it.

Auto-filling tubulars

A method for performing a subterranean operation that can include operations of engaging a tubular with a pipe handler, calculating, via a processor, an internal volume of the tubular, determining, via the processor, a number of pump strokes required to fill at least a percentage of the internal volume with fluid, pumping the fluid to the tubular by running a pump the number of pump strokes, and filling the internal volume of the tubular to at least the percentage of the internal volume with the fluid.

CONFIGURABLE DRILL FLUID CONTAINMENT DEVICE

Various embodiments disclosed relate to a configurable drill fluid containment device. The present disclosure includes a device including a central shell configured to at least partially enclose an end of a drill pipe. The central shell can have two halves, each of the halves having flanges that are configured to attaching one or more extension features to the device. The flanges can be configured to attach extension features at an upper end of the device, a lower end of the device, or both.
