Rotational continuous circulation tool
A tool circulates drilling fluid through and rotates a pipe string while making up or breaking out a stand of pipe. The tool includes a clad configured to grip and seal around the RCCT sub. The clad includes a body portion, an inner ring configured to selectively rotate independently, an outer ring configured to be stationary with respect to the inner ring, the outer ring having at least two annular protrusions, a first arm configured to engage with a first annular protrusion, a second arm configured to engage with a second annular protrusion, and a stinger configured to latch into the at least one side entry port and allow the sub and the drill pipe string to rotate independent of the clad. The clad is configured to avoid or prevent stuck pipe incidents.
Drilling system and method of submarine drilling rig
The present invention discloses a drilling system and method of a submarine drilling rig, relating to the technical field of drilling equipment. The system includes a barge, an umbilical cable, a submarine device and a drilling device; where the barge is loaded with a pneumatic-electric-hydraulic control device and a mud treatment device which are respectively connected to the submarine device through the umbilical cable; and the submarine device includes a submarine traveling device, a coiled tubing roller, a derrick, a centralized valve seat, a drill bit replacement device, a wellhead device and a casing rack. The centralized valve seat is connected to the umbilical cable for shunting mud, cement and electrical signals conveyed by the umbilical cable. The derrick is installed above the wellhead device, respectively matched with the drill bit replacement device and the casing rack for replacing drill bits and conveying and withdrawing casings. The drilling device is connected to the coiled tubing for performing drilling operations. The present invention has the advantages of low cost, high drilling and production efficiency and high safety.
Control of Hydraulic Power Flowrate for Managed Pressure Drilling
An assembly uses a choke to control flow of wellbore fluid in a drilling system. A controller operatively coupled to the choke can control opening/closing of the choke with hydraulic power and an actuator. The control operates the opening/closing of the choke with a choke control value to control a parameter in the drilling system, such as pressure or flow. The control measure a time for the choke to at least reach a position toward a full open/closed position during a full opening/closing operation and calculates a current opening/closing speed of the choke. When this current speed is compared to a previously stored speed, the control adjusts the choke control value for the choke based on any difference.
System and method for continuous circulation
Present embodiments are directed to a circulation system including a circulation management system. A housing of a coupling feature of the circulation management system is configured to extend over a box end of a pipe element. A seal disposed within the housing is configured to engage with a face of the box end. A force-application feature is configured to force the seal against the face of the box end to establish a sealed engagement between the circulation management system and the pipe element. A flow path of the circulation management system extends through the housing and the seal, wherein the flow path facilitates fluid flow into the pipe element from the circulation management system when the sealed engagement is established. A port to the flow path is configured to couple with a fluid flow supply feature.
Release tool with adjustable release rod for a drill string inside blowout preventer
Inside blowout preventer release tool having an upper section and a tubular lower section. The upper section includes a pair of longitudinal members defining a central open region, and a formed lifting feature accepting a manipulator. The lifting feature is positioned such that when the release tool body and an inside blowout preventer connected thereto are lifted by the rig hoist they are easily moved over, aligned with, and connected with a working drillpipe while minimizing possibility of slipping off cables or chains. The lower section includes a threaded end mating with a mating end of an inside blowout preventer, a central longitudinal bore to accept a length-adjustable release rod, and an upper end formed to mate with the upper section. Slots in each longitudinal member may define one or more manipulating handles for a rig worker, machine, or tool, or a pair of generally horizontal hand holds are provided.
Actuator for choke valve
Devices and methods for operating a linear actuator, optionally for use in controlling a choke valve as part of a managed pressure drilling operation. Such a device may include a motor, a transmission, a linear actuator and an override mechanism selectively engageable with the transmission to enable operation of the linear actuator independently of the motor.
MUD SAVER VALVE MEASUREMENT SYSTEM AND METHOD
In accordance with an embodiment of the disclosure, a method includes detecting a first parameter indicative of lateral movement of a top drive system with respect to a rotational axis of the top drive system with a first plurality of sensors and detecting a second parameter indicative of lateral movement of the top drive system with respect to the longitudinal axis of the top drive system with a second plurality of sensors. The first parameter is different from the second parameter. The method also includes transmitting the first parameter and the second parameter to a monitoring system and comparing the first parameter to a first threshold value and comparing the second parameter to a second threshold value with the monitoring system. Detecting the first parameter and the second parameter includes detecting lateral movement of a mud saver valve configured to flow mud through a sealed passage.
LINEAR HYDRAULIC PUMP AND ITS APPLICATION IN WELL PRESSURE CONTROL
An apparatus includes a linear motor and a fluid pump functionally connected to the linear motor. A fluid inlet of the fluid pump is in fluid communication with a fluid source. A fluid outlet of the fluid pump in fluid communication with a well. A pressure sensor is in fluid communication with the well. A controller is functionally coupled to the linear motor and the pressure sensor, wherein the controller is configured to operate the fluid pump to maintain a selected pressure in the well.
Side saddle substructure
The drilling rig includes a first substructure and a second substructure. The second substructure is positioned generally parallel to and spaced apart from the first substructure and generally the same height as the first substructure. The drilling rig further includes a drill floor coupled to the first and second substructures, where the drill floor positioned substantially at the top of the first and second substructures.
