STRADDLE PACKER WITH FLUID PRESSURE PACKER SET AND AUTOMATIC STAY-SET
20200256153 · 2020-08-13 · ·

A straddle packer has a floating auto-J sleeve that automatically shifts the straddle packer from a run-in condition to a stay-set condition after pumping of high-pressure fluid into the straddle packer in excess of a predetermined pump rate is terminated. In the stay set condition, packer elements of the straddle packer remain in sealing contact with a well casing or well bore into which the straddle packer has been run.

DEFLECTOR ASSEMBLY AND EFFICIENT METHOD FOR MULTI-STAGE FRACTURING A MULTILATERAL WELL USING THE SAME

Provided, in one aspect, is a deflector assembly. The deflector assembly, in one embodiment, includes a deflector body having a deflector window located therein, and a deflector ramp positioned at least partially across the deflector window, the deflector ramp configured to move between first ({circle around (1)}), second ({circle around (2)}) and third ({circle around (3)}) different positions when a downhole tool moves back and forth within the deflector body.

Tubular isolation valve resettable lock open mechanism

A safety valve features a flow tube operated flapper for the normal open and closed positions that can be obtained with one or two control lines to a principal operating piston. Pressure applied to the piston moves the flow tube to rotate the flapper open behind the flow tube. Release of pressure to the principal piston allows a closure spring to return the flow tube up to let the flapper close. A secondary piston can drive the flow tube with applied pressure through a control line. Cycling the applied pressure in combination with an indexing mechanism allows the flapper to be locked open and then released to normal operation. The pistons act as backup for each other as they both drive the flow tube. The flow tube has a clearance fit to the body in the locked open position to exclude debris from the flapper.

A valve for use in a wellbore includes a housing including a housing port, a slidable closure member disposed in a bore of the housing and including a closure member port, and a seal disposed in the housing, wherein the closure member includes a first position in the housing where fluid communication is provided between the closure member port and the housing port, and a second position axially spaced from the first position where fluid communication between the closure member port and the housing port is restricted, wherein, in response to sealing of the bore of the housing by an obturating member sealingly engaging the seal, the closure member is configured to actuate from the first position to the second position.

Release Lugs for a Jarring Device

A release mechanism for a jarring tool is formed by a plurality of segmented release lugs. Each lug includes a plurality of axial spaced projections on an inner surface and a plurality of grooves on an outer surface. The projections have either different widths or are separated by varying distances and releasably engage corresponding grooves in a mandrel located within a housing of the tool. The release lugs are positioned between a trigger sleeve and the mandrel.

GRIPPING DEVICE FOR HANDLING EQUIPMENT WITH A DRILL STRING

A gripping device is adapted for handling equipment with a drill string, wherein an annular actuator housing includes a hydraulically activated, rotatable cam disc which is arranged to displace a number of locking slides from a first position, in which the locking slides are retracted into the actuator housing, and a second position, in which the locking slides are in engagement with the drill string extending through a center opening in the gripping device, by abutting against a shoulder of a tool joint in the drill string. The gripping device is connected to a hydraulic supply and return for the actuation of the cam disc via a hydraulic coupler in a connection port on the actuator housing. Alternatively pressurizing and ventilating two adjacent actuation volumes in the cam disc brings about rotation of the cam disc within a sector of the cam disc.

Casing removal tool and methods of use for well abandonment

Systems and methods for removing casing from a wellbore including a casing removal tool that includes a tubular body configured to contain a thermite fuel mixture configured to initiate into a molten thermite fuel. The casing removal tool also includes a nozzle array having a plurality of nozzles positioned on an external surface of the tubular body. The nozzle array is configured to impinge the molten thermite fuel from within the tubular onto the wellbore casing. The casing removal tool also includes an orientation lug configured to anchor into a downhole orientation tool.

Valve Assembly and Method of Controlling Fluid Flow in An Oil, Gas or Water Well

A valve assembly (1) for use particularly in a deviated wellbore of an oil, gas or water well comprises a body (50) with an axis and first and second resiliently deformable seats (20, 25) to seat a valve closure member (10a) such as a ball, the seats being deformable to allow passage of the ball at different first and second fluid pressures acting on the seated valve closure member. The first and second seats are axially spaced from one another on a control sleeve (60) on opposite sides of an inner end of a selectively operable fluid outlet conduit connecting the bore with an external surface of the valve assembly, and operation of the valve assembly at pressures between the first and second pressures opens and closes the outlet while maintaining the ball between the first and second seats.

Selective rotationally aligning indicating mechanism

A multi-function tool is connected to an inner string to selectively align a port or ports in the inner string with ports in the outer string at various locations. The tool is locked from functioning at some locations where a locating collet will not selectively engage with an unlocking profile. In this more the tool will pass through the location unhindered. If an unlock profile is engaged the tool is enabled to be unlocked so that manipulation allows a support mandrel to align with collets that have an external V-shaped profile. Setting down weight allows the supported V-shaped profile on the collets engage a similar profile on the outer tubular to rotate, if needed, and to find support on a V-shaped profile on the surrounding tubular for performance of the borehole operation. Thereafter the locating collet engages a locking profile to disable the tool again.
