A technique facilitates setting of a liner hanger in a casing or within other tubular structures via a setting tool. The liner hanger may be constructed with an expandable hanger body between fixed ends. The expandable hanger body is formed from a material, e.g. metal, sufficiently ductile to undergo plastic deformation as it is expanded into engagement with a surrounding casing or other tubing. The expandable hanger body is expanded via fluid delivered under high pressure by the setting tool. The setting tool has a pressure booster to achieve the desired high pressure. The pressure booster may be in the form of a multi-diameter piston constructed to establish the desired high pressure during a single stroke.

The well system, according to this aspect, further includes a main bore completion located within the main wellbore and a lateral bore completion located within the lateral wellbore, and a multilateral junction positioned at an intersection between the main wellbore open hole section of the main wellbore and the lateral wellbore open hole section of the lateral wellbore, the multilateral junction including a main bore leg forming a first pressure tight seal with the main bore completion and a lateral bore leg forming a second pressure tight seal with the lateral bore completion such that the main bore completion and the lateral bore completion are hydraulically isolated from one another.

An inflatable multifunctional downhole tool includes a body having an outer shell and a threaded connection at an axial end of the body, at least one pressurized container disposed inside the outer shell, the pressurized container containing compressed gas, a plurality of floatation chambers fluidly connected through connection lines to the at least one pressurized container, a dissolvable plug positioned along each of the connection lines between the floatation chambers and the at least one pressurized container, and a tool sub threadably connected to the threaded connection of the body.

Multi-String Section Mill

A multi-string section milling tool has a longitudinally extending tubular body with mill carriers carrying hardened cutters that pivotally extend from a mill window in the tubular body by upward movement of a drive plunger. A downwardly biased piston mounted to the upper end of a flow tube is slidably inserted through a stationary thimble below the piston. The lower end of the flow tube is attached to a drive plunger which is pivotally attached to drive yoke links pivotally attached the mill carriers. The piston and thimble creates a pressure chamber in the milling tool. Fluid pressure in the pressure chamber moves the piston, flow tube and drive plunger upward to pivotally extend the drive yoke links and mill carriers radially outward through the mill window. Cessation of fluid pressure in the pressure chamber retracts the mill carriers.

Rolling seal for transfer of pressure in a downhole tool

This disclosure provides a completion tool that uses a rolling seal to actuate a flow valve or replace a piston in a down hole tool. The rolling seal is located in a fluid chamber of the completion tool and divides the fluid chamber into first and second smaller fluid chambers and fluidly seals the first smaller fluid chamber from the second smaller fluid chamber. The rolling seal responds to a fluid pressure within the fluid chamber that causes the closed end of the rolling seal to invert thereby transferring fluid pressure between the first and second fluid chambers, which actuates a flow valve actuation assembly.

A downhole tool for projecting a projectable element downhole includes a tool body having a radial bore, a projectable element forming a piston in the radial bore, the projectable element having first and second element parts. In the retracted position the projectable element and the second bore part define an annular cavity, a hollow base part having an open end and a closed end, the open end extending into the open first end of the projectable element forming a chamber. The open end of the hollow base part has at least one spring element arranged in the chamber and connected to the closed first end of the projectable element and to the closed end of the hollow base part for retraction of the projectable element, and a pump configured to pump fluid into the chamber via a fluid channel to project the projectable element.

Hydraulically activated setting tool and method

A sub connects a gun string to a hydraulically activated setting tool for setting an auxiliary tool in a well. The sub includes a housing that prevents a well fluid from entering inside the housing; a plug that covers a hole made in a wall of the housing; and an explosive mechanism located inside the housing and configured to break the plug to open the hole to achieve fluid communication between an outside and the inside of the sub.

A method and apparatus provide for separating a fluid conveyance, such as coiled tubing, wherein the apparatus includes an anchor section and a carrier that, when united, create an explosive force, separating the fluid conveyance.
