DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS FOR SELECTIVELY ENGAGING DOWNHOLE TOOL FOR WELLBORE OPERATIONS
A device for wellbore operations is configured to self-determine its downhole location in a wellbore in real-time and to self-activate upon arrival at a preselected target location. The device determines its downhole location based on magnetic field and/or magnetic flux signals provided by an onboard three-axis magnetometer. The device optionally comprises one or more magnets. The magnetometer detects changes in magnetic field and/or magnetic flux caused by the device's proximity to or passage through various features in the wellbore. The device can self-activate to deploy an engagement mechanism to engage a target tool downhole from the target location. The engagement mechanism comprises a seal supported by two expandable support rings, each having a respective elliptical face for engagement with the elliptical face of the other support ring.
Downhole sealing apparatuses and related downhole assemblies and methods
A downhole sealing apparatus comprises a propellant section and a sealing element section adjacent the propellant section. The propellant section comprises an outer housing, at least one propellant structure within the outer housing, and at least one initiator device adjacent the at least one propellant structure. The sealing element section is configured to isolate a region of a borehole in a subterranean formation responsive to pressure of gases produced through combustion of at least one propellant of the at least one propellant structure of the propellant section. A downhole assembly and a method of isolating portions of a borehole in a subterranean formation are also disclosed.
Directly initiated addressable power charge
A method and apparatus for detonating a power charge in downhole wellbore using a heating element embedded within the energetic material of the power charge.
Shaped power charge with integrated initiator
A power charge for actuating a wellbore tool. Combustion of the power charge generates gas and corresponding gas pressure within the wellbore tool and the power charge and wellbore tool are configured for providing a path to an expansion chamber for the gas pressure. A body of the power charge may have the shape of a regular polygonal cylinder, thus defining flow-paths for the expanding gas. The power charge may include a cylinder of energetic material and an interior space formed within the energetic material and configured for receiving an igniter and/or ignition material. Ignition of the igniter or ignition material results in combustion of the power charge.

DISPOSABLE SETTING TOOL FOR WELLBORE OPERATIONS
A disposable setting tool includes a housing having a first end, a second end, and an intermediate portion having an outer surface and an inner surface defining a passage. A piston assembly is arranged in the passage. The piston assembly including a first piston portion and a second piston portion that extends axially outwardly of the second end of the housing. The first piston portion includes a first end portion, a second end portion, and an intermediate section having an outer surface portion and an inner surface portion that extends between the first end portion and the second end portion. The inner surface portion defines a pressure passage. An atmospheric chamber is defined between the inner surface of the housing and the outer surface portion of the piston assembly.
SINGLE USE SETTING TOOL FOR ACTUATING A TOOL IN A WELLBORE
A single use setting tool and associated method for actuating a tool in a wellbore may include an inner piston having a piston proximal end, a piston distal end, and a piston annular wall that defines a piston cavity. The setting tool may include a gas-generating power charge positioned within the piston cavity. The power charge may extend along a longitudinal axis from a proximal end to a distal end and have at least two different widths along its length. The power charge may further include a tapered portion. The setting tool may further include a piston extension connected to the piston distal end. The inner piston may further include a shear element groove circumferentially extending in an outer surface of the inner piston, for receiving a shear element.
Multi-stage propellant charge for downhole setting tools
An actuator for setting a downhole tool comprises a first propellant configured to be ignited by an igniter, and a second propellant configured to be ignited by combustion of the first propellant, the first propellant abutting the second propellant such that the first propellant covers an axial end of the second propellant. The first propellant is configured to combust more quickly than the second propellant.
Directly Initiated Addressable Power Charge
A method and apparatus for detonating a power charge in downhole wellbore using a heating element embedded within the energetic material of the power charge.
Shaped charge assembly, explosive units, and methods for selectively expanding wall of a tubular
A shaped charge assembly for selectively expanding a wall of a tubular includes a housing comprising an outer surface facing away from the housing and an opposing inner surface facing an interior of the housing. First and second explosive units each includes a predetermined amount of explosive sufficient to expand, without puncturing, at least a portion of the wall of the tubular to form a protrusion extending outward into an annulus adjacent the wall of the tubular.
