A downhole tool position adjustment assembly for locating a tool downhole comprising a mandrel coupled to a housing via an extend-retract mechanism. A controller communicatively connected to the extend-retract mechanism, wherein an application executing within the controller, is configured to control the extend-retract mechanism. A communication system, communicatively coupled to the controller, is configured to receive a command signal from an operator at a surface location. The extend-retract mechanism moves the mandrel relative to the housing in response to a control signal received from the controller in response to the command signal received by the communication system.
Maintaining and inspecting a wellbore
An assembly and a method for maintaining and inspecting a wellbore are described. The assembly includes a body. Multiple magnetic wheel sub-assemblies are adjustably coupled to the body. The magnetic wheel sub-assemblies position the body within the wellbore and reposition relative to the body in response to a wellbore narrowing or a wellbore widening. The assembly includes a tool connection coupled to the body. The tool connection couples a well tool to the body. The assembly includes a control sub-assembly to control the magnetic wheel sub-assemblies and operate the well tool within the wellbore. The assembly includes a power sub-assembly to supply power to the control sub-assembly and the well tool. The assembly includes a backup retrieval mechanism coupled to the body. The backup retrieval mechanism couples to a retrieval tool.
EXTENDED REACH POWER TRACK TOOL USED ON COILED TUBING
A traction tool is operable with fluid flow from on coiled tubing for use in a wellbore. The traction tool includes a mandrel, a driver, at least one piston, and a motor. The driver is rotatably disposed on the mandrel and can be movable between retracted and extended conditions when the at least one piston is actuated. The driver in the extended condition is configured to engage inside the wellbore. The piston is adjacent to the driver and is actuated by the fluid flow from the mandrel. The motor is also actuated by the fluid flow from the mandrel. The motor imparts rotation to the piston and the drive, which can be supported by bearings on the tool's mandrel. Tracks on the driver arranged at an angel transverse to a longitudinal axis of the tool allow the rotating driver to spiral inside the wellbore and advance the traction tool.

Systems and methods of the present disclosure relate to protecting a control line as it passes through a junction in a downhole environment. An ETJ deployment tool (ETJDT) comprises a tool body comprising a central bore; at least one first component and at least one second component, each component operable to extend and retract laterally from the tool body, wherein the at least one second component is disposed at an axial distance from the at least one first component along the tool body; a member disposed within the central bore and operable to move forward upon receiving fluid; and a spring disposed axially between a portion of the member and the at least one second component.
Production packer-setting tool with electrical control line
Certain aspects are directed to tools for setting production packers or actuating other downhole tools in response to activation signals received via an electrical control line within the wellbore. In one aspect, a downhole assembly for a wellbore is provided. The downhole assembly can include a reservoir and a pressuring module in fluid communication with the reservoir. The reservoir can contain a control fluid in communication with a fluid control path of a downhole tool. A quantity of the control fluid can be transmitted via the fluid control path for actuation of the downhole tool. The quantity of the control fluid can be controlled using a pressure change in the control fluid. The pressure change in the control fluid can be caused by the pressurizing module in response to an activation signal received by the pressurizing module via an electrical control line coupled to the pressurizing module.
Bearing apparatus including tilting pads
Tilting pad bearing assemblies and apparatuses are disclosed. The disclosed tilting pad bearing assemblies and apparatuses may be employed in downhole motors of a subterranean drilling system or other mechanical systems. In an embodiment, a bearing assembly or apparatus includes a support ring and a plurality of tilting pads. Each tilting pad is tilted and/or tiltably secured relative to the support ring. In some embodiments, one or more of the tilting pads include a plurality of superhard bearing segments assembled to form a superhard bearing surface. One or more seams may be positioned between adjacent superhard bearing segments of the superhard bearing segments. In other embodiments, one or more of the tilting pads may include at least one or only one superhard bearing segment, such as a polycrystalline diamond bearing segment.
Bearing assemblies and apparatuses including superhard bearing elements
A bearing assembly includes a support ring, a plurality of bearing-element carrier members coupled to the support ring, and a plurality of superhard bearing elements having a lateral periphery extending between a base and a superhard bearing surface. At least one superhard bearing element of the plurality of superhard bearing elements is attached to each of the plurality of bearing-element carrier members. A bearing apparatus includes a rotor, a stator, and a bearing assembly. A method for assembling a bearing assembly includes attaching at least one superhard bearing element to each of a plurality of bearing-element carrier members and coupling the plurality of bearing-element carrier members to a support ring.
Radial ball bearing and method
A bearing section for a mandrel at least partially disposed within an inner bore of a housing. A radial bearing and a thrust bearing are each disposed around the mandrel and within the inner bore of the housing. The radial bearing includes an outer cylindrical member, an inner cylindrical member, and a series of spherical members disposed within a space between an inner surface of the outer cylindrical member and an outer surface of the inner cylindrical member. One of the inner surface of the outer cylindrical member or the outer surface of the inner cylindrical member includes a flat profile and the other includes a series of circumferential grooves. The flat profile allows relative axial movement between the inner and outer cylindrical members without the radial bearing absorbing any thrust load.
MUD MOTORS WITH THRUST BEARING WITH ENHANCED TORQUE
An apparatus for use in a wellbore is disclosed that in one non-limiting embodiment includes a rotatable member, a thrust bearing coupled to the rotatable member, wherein the thrust bearing includes a bearing stack that further includes a unitary inner race member that includes a number of axially spaced inner races around an outer surface of the unitary inner race member. A set of bearing elements is placed in each inner race, and a separate outer race secures each set of bearing elements in each inner race.
POLYCRYSTALLINE DIAMOND COMPACTS
Embodiments of the invention relate to polycrystalline diamond (PCD) exhibiting enhanced diamond-to-diamond bonding. In an embodiment, PCD includes a plurality of diamond grains defining a plurality of interstitial regions. A metal-solvent catalyst occupies at least a portion of the plurality of interstitial regions. The plurality of diamond grains and the metal-solvent catalyst collectively exhibit a coercivity of about 115 Oersteds (Oe) or more and a specific magnetic saturation of about 15 Gauss.Math.cm.sup.3/grams (G.Math.cm.sup.3/g) or less. Other embodiments are directed to polycrystalline diamond compacts (PDCs) employing such PCD, methods of forming PCD and PDCs, and various applications for such PCD and PDCs in rotary drill bits, bearing apparatuses, and wire-drawing dies.
