Conveying a replaceable assembly between latched and unlatched configurations with an outer housing can include connecting the replaceable assembly to a running tool, so the assembly can be conveyed with the running tool, and disconnecting the assembly from the running tool. At least one of the connecting and disconnecting steps can include actuating an iris mechanism. A pressure control device can include an annular seal and a latch that releasably secures the annular seal relative to an outer housing, the latch including a grip member that grips a surface and prevents relative rotation. Another pressure control device can include an annular seal connected to and rotatable with an inner mandrel, and a bearing that permits relative rotation between the annular seal and the outer housing. A structure rotates with the inner mandrel, the structure including a flow inductive profile exposed to a bearing lubricant flow path.

Iris Valve Type Well Annular Pressure Control Device and Method

A well annular pressure control device includes a housing having a through bore and at least two iris valves within the housing. The iris valves comprise a plurality of vanes operable between an open position and a closed position to define an opening. At least one actuator is coupled to the plurality of vanes to move the plurality of vanes between the open position and the closed position.

Top pot assembly

An improved top pot assembly utilizes an attachment body for attaching the rubber to a bearing assembly for rotation with the inner barrel. The attachment body simplifies the replacement of the rubber on the drilling assembly. The attachment body provides a guide that slopes downward into the central aperture and the bore to guide the mandrel and drilling string towards the bore. The attachment body also provides a stripper receiver for attachment of the rubber to the attachment body. The attachment body attaches to the housing which attaches to the bearing assembly for rotation of the rubber and the inner barrel.

RISER ADAPTER QUICK CONNECTION ASSEMBLY

A Jack-up drilling rig or land drilling rig riser system with quick connectors that can be used to rapidly install and de-install RCD housings between the BOP and the drill floor. The quick connector design can handle different bore diameters without changing the external design of the connector. The connector assembly may be used to connect a blowout preventer or rotating control device housing to a tubular riser, a blowout preventer housing to an RCD housing, or to join two tubular risers. A connector assembly connects a tubular pin end to a housing has a tubular connector body with a first end to receive the pin end and a second end secured to the housing. The connector assembly also includes a latching mechanism movable between a lock position to prevent the pin end from being removed and an unlock position in which the pin end can be removed.

SMART CEMENTING WIPER PLUG

A method and system for completing cementing operations in a subterranean well with a wiper plug assembly includes delivering the wiper plug assembly into a casing, the wiper plug assembly having a wiper plug body with a circular cross section and a resilient wiper element that engages an inner diameter of the casing string. An inclination of the wiper plug assembly is measured in three dimensions with an accelerometer assembly and an azimuth of the wiper plug assembly is measured in three dimensions with a magnetometer. The inclination and the azimuth of the wiper plug assembly are delivered to a control unit in real time. An inclination of the wiper plug assembly is determined in real time. The inclination of the wiper plug assembly is delivered to an earth's surface in real time with a transmitter of the electronics package.

Stripper element for wells and reinforcing insert therefor

A low cost, disposable, molded reinforcing insert which has a metal ring or a circular arrangement of threaded metal inserts encased therein, a low cost disposable stripper rubber for drill pipes or other tubulars which includes the molded reinforcing insert, and molding methods for forming the reinforcing insert and the stripper rubber.

Blowout preventer with dual function rams

A dual function ram system for a blowout preventer (BOP) includes a first dual function ram that is configured to move within a cavity of the BOP between a withdrawn position to cause the BOP to be in an open configuration and an extended position to cause the BOP to be in a closed configuration. The first dual function ram includes a shearing surface that is configured to shear a tubular within a central bore during a shearing operation and a pipe-sealing surface that is configured to seal against the tubular within the central bore during a pipe-sealing operation.

WELLHEAD TORQUE RING

A wellhead assembly includes a wellhead housing; a tubing hanger, plug, back pressure valve, two-way check valve, BOP test plug, temporary abandonment plug, or other device; and a torque ring. The wellhead housing includes an inner bore. The wellhead housing has one or more mating grooves formed on an inner wall of the wellhead housing. The tubing hanger, plug, back pressure valve, two-way check valve, BOP test plug, temporary abandonment plug, or other device is positioned within the inner bore of the wellhead housing. The torque ring is positioned within a slot formed in the tubing hanger or other device. The torque ring includes a protrusion extending beyond the tubing hanger and into the mating groove.

Downhole swivel apparatus and method

Z What is provided is a method and apparatus which can be detachably connected to an annular blowout preventer thereby separating the drilling fluid or mud into upper and lower sections and allowing the fluid to be displaced in two stages, such as while the drill string is being rotated and/or reciprocated. In one embodiment the sleeve can be rotatably and sealably connected to a mandrel. The swivel can be incorporated into a drill or well string and enabling string sections both above and below the sleeve to be rotated in relation to the sleeve. In one embodiment the drill or well string does not move in a longitudinal direction relative to the swivel. In one embodiment, the drill or well string does move longitudinally relative to the sleeve of the swivel.
