Tools and methods for use in completion of a wellbore
A ported tubular is provided for use in casing a wellbore, to permit selective access to the adjacent formation during completion operations. A system and method for completing a wellbore using the ported tubular are also provided. Ports within the wellbore casing may be opened, isolated, or otherwise accessed to deliver treatment to the formation through the ports.
Downhole valve assembly
Downhole tools and methods for isolating a wellbore. A downhole tool can include a body having a bore or flowpath formed therethrough, and one or more sealing members disposed therein. The one or more sealing members can include an annular base and a curved surface having an upper face and a lower face, wherein one or more first radii define the upper face, and one or more second radii define the lower face, and wherein, at any point on the curved surface, the first radius is greater than the second radius. The sealing members can be disposed within the bore of the tool using one or more annular sealing devices disposed about the one or more sealing members.
Degradable fluid loss and pressure barrier for subterranean use
A tubular segment that has openings that are initially closed so that pressure can be conducted through the segment has the ability to open the segments by making a degradable material unblock the openings to facilitate another completion operation or production. Some applications include a slotted liner with a screen where an intermediate layer of a controlled electrolytic material initially allows the structure to conduct pressure and then after degradation allows access through the screen and the slotted liner for production. Other variations can be simply using slotted liner where the slots are closed for running it to allow circulation and then opened for production or other completion steps. The transformation can take place over time using available well fluids or it can take place with induced well conditions at the location that are initiated from the surface or locally at the location.
SINGLE SIZE ACTUATOR FOR MULTIPLE SLIDING SLEEVES
A multiplier sleeve has a releasable seat coupled to a dog within the slidable sleeve allows a single sized ball, dart, or plug to actuate several sliding sleeves. Upon actuation by properly sized ball the ball, slidable sleeve, seat, and dog move downward where the dog is no longer supported allowing the seat to move within the slidable sleeve to a point where the seat is no longer supported thereby releasing the ball. With the slidable sleeve moved downward the port or ports in the sliding sleeve is exposed. A staged port and piston assembly inserted into the ports maintain pressure within the tubular assembly to allow the ball to move through and actuate the targeted sliding sleeves.
Well tool device for opening and closing a fluid bore in a well
A well tool device includes a housing having an axial through bore. The well tool device further includes a sleeve section axially displaceable relative to the housing; a fluid flow preventing frangible disc; and an axial fluid passage bypassing the frangible disc when the well tool device is in an initial state, thereby allowing a fluid flow between a first location above the frangible disc and a second location below the frangible disc. The sleeve section includes an axial through bore aligned with the axial through bore of the housing. The axial fluid passage is closed when the well tool device is in a subsequent state. The fluid flow preventing frangible disc is provided in the bore of the sleeve section in sealing engagement with the sleeve section. The well tool device further includes a disc supporting device for supporting the frangible disc in relation to the sleeve section. The disc supporting device is releasably connected inside the sleeve section by means of a releasable connection device. The well tool device further includes a disintegration device disintegration of the frangible disc, wherein the well tool device is in a final state when the frangible disc has been disintegrated by the disintegration device.
DISSOLVABLE DOWNHOLE TOOLS COMPRISING BOTH DEGRADABLE POLYMER ACID AND DEGRADABLE METAL ALLOY ELEMENTS
A degradable downhole isolation tool for use in hydrocarbon well completion. The tool sets and isolates zones for fracking, and then degrades without leaving residual parts and without milling or introducing a new degrading fluid. The plug's mandrel and other parts are a solid polymer which hydrolyzes in aqueous downhole fluid to produce an acid which degrades degradable metal slips and other metal parts. The plug's seal may be degradable metal pedals or split rings. The plug is delivered to the well site as an interchangeable parts kit for adaption to the well's requirements.
Removable Control Line Barrier
A hydraulically operated downhole tool located at a depth where control line hydrostatic pressure would normally set the tool is temporarily isolated from hydrostatic pressure and changes thereto from well exposure or downhole operations until properly located. A removable barrier is placed in the control line to the tool at a height from the tool that limits the hydrostatic force exposed to the actuation mechanism for the tool. The preferred barrier is a rupture disc that is selectively broken with applied pressure from a remote location, typically the surface above the well. The mounting depth of the barrier can be varied to control the maximum hydrostatic pressure seen by the tool as it is advanced to the intended position.
Methods and systems for a temporary seal within a wellbore
A temporary seal may be configured to be initially positioned on a seal seat within casing, and be configured to be broken or disengaged by increasing the pressure within the inner diameter of the casing past a pressure threshold. Subsequent to the temporary seal being broken, a first portion of the temporary seal may remain on the seal seat while a second portion of the temporary seal may travel downhole through a landing collar. Then, cement may be pumped within the casing, followed by a wiper plug. The wiper plug may pass the seal seat, and be locked in place on the landing collar. The cement may cure and remaining portions of the temporary seal may dissolve.
Plug apparatus
A disintegrable plug apparatus for use in connection with petroleum wells, especially during pressure testing of such petroleum wells. The plug apparatus has an outer housing surrounding at least one sealing device and a plurality of supporting bodies, where at least one of the supporting bodies is in engagement with a locking device for locking to a locking sleeve. After application of a predetermined pressure on the plug apparatus, the at least one supporting body and the at least one sealing device are permitted an axial movement such that the at least one sealing device is brought into contact with loading devices for disintegration of the at least one sealing device.
Locating self-setting dissolvable plugs
A magnetic system for determining a position of an untethered dissolvable frac package for use in a hydraulic fracturing or stimulation operation. The system includes an array of magnets operable to produce a magnetic field that is operably associated with a position downhole along the string. A setting tool of the dissolvable frac package is configured to sense the magnetic fields and deploy a dissolvable frac plug at a predetermined position along the wellbore string.
