Downhole device delivery and associated drive transfer system and method of delivering a device down a hole

A downhole device delivery and drive transfer system includes a sub which is arranged to attach to a drill string and a tool which is configured to enable it to travel through the drill string and releasably couple to the sub. The sub and the tool are arranged so that when they are releasably coupled to each other torque imparted to the drill string is transferred by the sub to the tool. The tool is arranged to carry one or more devices for performing one or more downhole functions such as core drilling, hole reaming or wedge placement for directional drilling. The system also has a guide mechanism that operates between the sub and the tool to guide the tool to a known rotational orientation relative to the sub as the tool travels into the sub. A fluid control system controls the flow of fluid through the tool through a downhole outlet and a plurality of ports intermediate opposite ends of the tool.

Stinger for actuating surface-controlled subsurface safety valve

A system used downhole in tubing is operable with pressure communicated via at least one control line. The system includes a tool and a stinger. The tool disposed with the tubing has a tool bore for passage of tubing flow. The tool has an operator movable between operable states, and the operator has a tool key disposed in the bore. The stinger removably disposed in the tubing is configured to insert into the tool bore. The stinger has an actuator in communication with the at least one control line. Actuated by the control line, a stinger key disposed on the stinger is movable with the actuator between positions. In this way, the stinger key is configured to engage the tool key and is configured to move the tool's operator at least from the one state to another.

A power spring in cooperation with the core rod within the housing assembly is connected to a power spring stopper that is fixed to the housing assembly with at least one shear screw. An inner axial cycling piston bar includes an external profile for mating engagement with the internal profile of the core rod. The inner axial cycling piston bar is connected to a piston in cooperation with a cycling spring, and the piston is configured to move in an upward direction. When a downward force exerted by the cycling spring exceeds the upwardly applied cycling force, the piston, the inner axial cycling piston bar, and the external profile move in a downward direction, thereby causing the core rod to move an incremental distance in the downward direction, which compresses the power spring by the incremental distance.

The self-destructible frac ball is configured to seal a hydraulic flow path through a fluid conduit of a frac plug when engaged on a ball seat of the frac plug. The self-destructible frac ball includes an activation mechanism configured to activate a destructive medium in response to the satisfaction of at least one predetermined condition. The self-destructible frac ball also includes the destructive medium, which is configured to destroy the self-destructible frac ball and a corresponding destructible ball retainer when activated by the activation mechanism. The destruction of the self-destructible frac ball and the corresponding destructible ball retainer reestablishes the hydraulic flow path through the fluid conduit of the frac plug.

The ball valve further includes a sleeve disposed in the valve housing and operable to shift from a first position to a second position to actuate the actuation mechanism.
