Techniques in the upstream oil and gas industry
CO.sub.2 in the liquid or super-critical state is delivered by at least one carrier vessel from at least one CO.sub.2 storage site, which may be an onshore site, to an integrated offshore facility. The integrated offshore facility is provided with at least one on-site storage tank or vessel adapted to store CO.sub.2 in the liquid or super-critical state and with equipment for marine transfer of CO.sub.2 in the liquid or super-critical state. CO.sub.2 is utilised as required from said at least one on-site storage tank or vessel for EOR at said offshore site or for EGR at said offshore site by injection into a sub-sea oil or natural gas bearing reservoir and recovery of oil and/or natural gas from a resulting production stream.
Hydrocarbon Extraction Using Solar Energy
The invention relates to a method for extracting hydrocarbons from a subterranean formation, comprising: —providing a fluid, —injecting said fluid into the subterranean formation during a first period of time but not during a second period of time, and—collecting displaced hydrocarbons from the subterranean formation, wherein: at least part of the provision and/or injection of the fluid is carried out using solar energy.
HYDROGEN PRODUCTION, STORAGE AND RECOVERY
A method for operating a kerogen-rich unconventional gas reservoir characterized by there being multiple hydraulically-fractured wells drilled thereinto comprises: recovering a methane-containing gas from a first hydraulically-fractured well drilled into the gas reservoir, steam-methane reforming the recovered methane-containing gas to yield a hydrogen gas and an inorganic carbon-containing gas, injecting at least a portion of the hydrogen gas into a second hydraulically-fractured well drilled into the gas reservoir, and injecting at least a portion of the inorganic carbon-containing gas into a third hydraulically-fractured well drilled into the gas reservoir.
DOWNHOLE VAPOR-TRANSITION CONTROL VALVE FOR FLUID INJECTION
A flow control valve configured to be positioned in a tubing in a borehole formed in a subsurface formation, wherein the flow control is used to regulate a flow of an injection fluid into the subsurface formation based on a vapor-transition characteristic of a fluid contained within a chamber of the flow control valve.
Carbon Dioxide Recycle Stream Processing with Ethylene Glycol Dehydrating in an Enhanced Oil Recovery Process
A method for carbon dioxide recycle stream processing with ethylene glycol dehydrating in an enhanced oil recovery process includes receiving a first carbon dioxide recycle stream from a hydrocarbon formation, adding ethylene glycol to the first carbon dioxide recycle stream to produce an ethylene glycol and carbon dioxide recycle stream, condensing the ethylene glycol and carbon dioxide stream to produce a multiphase stream, separating the multiphase stream into a water and ethylene glycol stream and a second carbon dioxide recycle stream, separating the water and ethylene glycol stream into a water stream and an ethylene glycol stream, and separating the second carbon dioxide recycle steam into a carbon dioxide reinjection stream and a natural gas liquids stream.
Upgrading oil using supercritical fluids
A method of upgrading oil using supercritical fluids generated by a fuel cell. The process uses supercritical carbon dioxide to control the specific gravity of the oil and supercritical water, the amount of which is controlled to achieve a desired oil/water ratio in processing oils to be upgraded. The process recovers the GHG emission stream from a fuel cell anode exhaust to produce supercritical fluids.
Enhanced carbon dioxide-based geothermal energy generation systems and methods
A system comprises an injection well for accessing reservoir at a first temperature; a production well in fluid communication with the reservoir; a working-fluid supply system providing a non-water based working fluid to the injection well at a second temperature lower than the first temperature, wherein exposure of the working fluid to the first temperature heats the working fluid to a third temperature and at least a portion of the working fluid at the third temperature is produced as a production fluid; and an energy recovery system that converts energy contained in the production fluid to electricity or heat, wherein the energy recovery system includes a waste heat recovery apparatus that recovers waste heat and uses it to heat the production fluid to a fourth temperature that is higher than the third temperature, wherein the waste heat is recovered from equipment of or a process stream.
Dirty water and exhaust constituent free, direct steam generation, convaporator system, apparatus and method
Embodiments of the present disclosure include a system, method, and apparatus comprising a direct steam generator configured to generate saturated steam and combustion exhaust constituents.
Membrane-based systems and methods for increasing the mass transfer rate of dissolved gases
This disclosure relates to membrane-based systems for transporting dissolved gases to a formation and methods for increasing a mass transfer rate of gases in a formation. The membrane-based system may include an aqueous injection well, a diffusion-based membrane, a gas, and an aqueous solution.
REFRIGERATION-INTEGRATED HYDROCARBON COLLECTION SYSTEM AND METHOD OF OPERATION
A method for recovering associated gaseous hydrocarbons from a well for producing liquid hydrocarbons, the method comprising (i) providing gaseous hydrocarbons from a hydrocarbon well; (ii) providing a cryogenic liquid from an air separation unit or an associated nitrogen liquefaction facility within proximity of the hydrocarbon well; (iii) liquefying the gaseous hydrocarbons at a hydrocarbon liquefaction facility within proximity to the hydrocarbon well to thereby produce a liquefied hydrocarbon gas, where heat associated with the gaseous hydrocarbons is transferred to the cryogenic liquid; and (iv) transferring the liquefied hydrocarbon gas to an air separation unit or nitrogen liquefaction facility.
