Determining a relative wellbore location utilizing a well shoe having a ranging source

The disclosure provides a well system environment ranging system including a well shoe device with a ranging source. In one aspect the ranging source is a magnetic source that can be a permanent magnet, and electromagnet, or a smart electromagnet. A method is also provided wherein a ranging receiver can be deployed to determine the relative location of the well shoe device to the ranging receiver. The well shoe device and the ranging receiver can be deployed in adjacent wellbores. In one aspect, multiple well shoe devices including a magnetic source can be inserted into one or more wellbores where the magnetic sources can have different specified magnetic field intensity so the well shoe positions can be determined by one or more ranging receivers.

Processes and configurations for subterranean resource extraction are provided. The processes include installing borehole strings, such as by drilling a plurality of boreholes, for example, first and second boreholes, that extend from a surface region into a resource deposit. The first and second boreholes are situated adjacent to each other. Portions of the first and second boreholes laterally extend in a penannularly fashion and connect terminally at a nodal space situated within the resource deposit. Carrier fluid is injected from the surface along fluid paths defined by the boreholes to in situ leach resource materials from the resource deposit into the carrier fluid, and carrier fluid containing the resource materials is brought back to surface for resource extraction.

System, method, and apparatus for harnessing geothermal power from superhot geothermal fluid (SHGF) and magma reservoirs. An exemplary embodiment is directed to a cased wellbore includes a well casing suspended within a borehole that extends between a surface and an underground reservoir of magma and a boiler casing housed within the well casing and extending between the surface and the underground reservoir of magma. The boiler casing has a first end submerged within the underground reservoir of magma and a terminal end opposite to the first end. The cased wellbore also includes a fluid conduit housed within the boiler casing and configured to deliver a liquid-phase fluid to the terminal end of the boiler casing. A temperature and a pressure at the terminal end of the boiler casing converts the liquid-phase fluid into a gas-phase fluid that travels through the boiler casing towards the surface. The cased wellbore also includes a well head connected to the first end of the boiler casing.

The method determines ranging distance and direction of the drilling well to target well using the offset between the true magnetic sensor position and the first planned depth position. The method helps to adjust directional drilling parameter to achieve constant ranging distance between drilling well and target well.

Systems and methods include a method providing automated production optimization for smart well completions using real-time nodal analysis including real-time modeling. Real-time well rates and flowing bottom-hole pressure data are collected by a multilateral well optimizing system at various choke settings for multiple flow conditions for each lateral of a multilateral well during regular field optimization procedures. Surface and downhole pressures and production metrics for each of the laterals are recorded for one lateral at a time. A multilateral well production model is calibrated using the surface and downhole pressures and the production metrics for each of the laterals. Flowing parameters of individual laterals are estimated using the multilateral well production model. An optimum pressure drop across each downhole valve is determined using the multilateral well production model. A productivity of each lateral is estimated using the model during the commingled production at various choke valves settings.

Optionally, the method may include the step of repositioning the turbulent solvent flow to be closer to heel ends to generate mineral solution and subsequent caverns further from horizontal production wellbore.

A chamber is formed on one end of the sliding sleeve with an elongate narrow passage extending thereto from the exterior of the tubular body, wherein a pressure drop of the fluid through the elongate narrow passage is adapted to move the sliding sleeve between a closed and an open position. A flow restrictor between the chamber and the interior passage of the tubular body has a pressure drop dependent only upon a flow rate of the fluid therethrough.
